Acknowledgements

On my journey into the world of hypnosis and the discovery of my own self, through the ever expanding knowledge of the power and the weaknesses of the human mind, I have met some incredible people. Some have and continue to shape my thinking and actions.

Firstly I would like to thank my son Anthony for his on going support and inspiration. I am incredibly lucky to have him as a son, business partner and travelling companion.

Anthony is the author of the book Reality is plastic. His book has inspired a complete generation of new Hypnotists across the globe. Reality is Plastic is now believed by many to be the most comprehensive learning tool for those starting out in the field of hypnosis. RIP has also enabled Anthony and I to travel the world, teaching thousands of people these wonderful life changing skills.

Anthony, (I know that I am biased) is the most well read and knowledgeable person I know on the subject, and history of hypnosis, its origins and development, throughout the centuries.

I would like to thank my wife Marion for her continuous support. Also my thanks to Jesse Cummins for his editorial skills.

About the author, Freddy H. Jacquin, B.Sc. Clinical Hypnosis

Freddy H. Jacquin is the founder and principal of the UK Hypnotherapy Training College which he created in 1999. Over the past 25 years he has been influential in changing the perception of hypnotherapy and the use of trance as a therapeutic tool for positive change.

In 1995, he trained initially in what is known as hypnoanalysis. This form of hypnotherapy is based on psychoanalysis. He then studied NLP (neuro-linguistic programming) techniques and Milton H Erickson, who is regarded by many as the founding father of modern-day hypnotherapy. He very quickly realised that there was a much more effective, efficient and unobtrusive way to help his clients.

Milton H Erickson was a medical doctor, psychiatrist and clinical hypnotherapist who fearlessly pushed the boundaries of what were perceived to be the limitations of the trance state as a therapeutic tool.

In 2012, Freddy achieved a Batchelor of Science degree in clinical hypnosis from St Marys University, Twickenham.

Utilising the techniques he learned and all the experience gained from dealing with thousands of clients with a multitude of various problems, he developed techniques that enable him to move people rapidly to a resolution of their problem. He has personally helped more than 35,000 clients achieve freedom from self-imposed limitations and negative programming by others.

His belief, developed in the training program Potensharu, is that by utilising naturally-occurring learning states within your child you can help them reach their natural potential in life, whatever that may be.

HYPNOTHERAPY

Hypnosis for therapeutic healing and personal change.

The chances are that you have purchased this book either because you are an already practising hypnotherapist, you are interested in the subject of hypnosis, or you want to be able to help others change their lives for the better. This book has been written for just such a purpose, but it is not limited to only those that hypnotise or use hypnosis as a therapeutic tool.

My hope is that once you have read this book and understand how hypnosis and trance (I will often use those words to mean the same thing) can be used as a powerful agent for change, then you will share the knowledge with anyone who wants to help others.

My intention in writing this is so by the end of this book you will be able to hypnotise anyone who wants the experience, and also use the techniques in this book to help yourself and others.

Let me start by stating that everything that I will share with you in this book (stories, anecdotes, techniques and insights) have come from my own personal experience as a hypnotherapist.

Over the past 25 years I have worked with over 35,000 clients, and have seen amazing, sometimes seemingly miraculous changes take place within the client. Sometimes these changes occur within one session, and other times over a period of weeks or months.

The first thing for you to know and understand is that everything I have written within these pages is just my opinion, albeit an opinion based on real-life experience in the therapy room, but it is nevertheless just my opinion. All the cases that I speak of, either as a demonstration of a technique or to make a point, are real clients that I have personally seen. The evidence for the efficacy of the techniques in this book is only anecdotal, and you can choose to believe it or not.

Some of the cases and the outcomes will seem unbelievable, even miraculous, because they are.

I have heard it said that magic is magic to everyone except the magician, because he knows how the trick is done. I say that miraculous change brought about with the use of the techniqueshypnotic and otherwisethat you will learn in this book are miraculous even to the agent of change using them.
