Foreword
by James Redfield
Do you feel it? Theres something happening out there. Some say its a new level of authenticity. The Mayan calendar suggests its a new wave of consciousness entering all of humanity, just when we need it the most. I would call it an emerging Twelfth Insight, where were learning to live our innermost spiritual knowledge.
But regardless of what we call it, we feel as though a greater part of ourselves is coming in to strengthen and enlarge our souls. And it seems, well, natural, as though were discovering some greater Divine reconnection that feels like coming home.
One of the changes born of this new consciousness is learning how to handle the personal crises of life. Far from foolishly seeking to avoid all trouble, or trying to insulate ourselves so completely that we never have to feel pain, this new approach helps us in a better way: It leads us to a place wherebelieve it or notwe can find a higher purpose in the heartache, as though it was an experience that was necessary if we are to become the person we were meant to be.
This higher journey through the experience of crisis is the subject of this wonderful book. Sonia Ricotti has been through the storms herself and now sees the process through the longer lens of spiritual growth. I would even say this is a Twelfth Insight book, because it assumes that each of us can discover an inner strategy that can handle all the challenges that come our wayso much so that we become unsinkable.
For starters, Sonia takes us through a centering process that moves us into what will be the greatest discovery of our age: the ability to surrender to a higher God Connection and Guidance. The God Connection is key, because it brings us the peace and love that in troubled times restores our bearings. After that, the Intuitive Guidance kicks in, and we realize that were in a particular situation for a higher purpose: to break through some bad habit, or to stretch into a new understanding of ourselves and of life. Mostly the experience reveals a certain talent we have through which we can touch and help others. Always it is about becoming a new, more conscious person.
Experts say our personal crises tend to happen at certain times in life. First there are the courtship heartbreaks that tend to occur in the teens and 20s. At age 30 or so, there are the problems of finding worldly success in our careers. In our 40s comes the usual crisis of the soul: Am I doing what I was really meant to do with my life? Of course, illness, breakups, or losing a loved one can happen anytime. All can rock our world and leave us emotionally paralyzed for a time.
