A Pathway to Awakening
Poems on Advait Teachings of My Sadguru Ranjit Maharaj Mary Elizabeth Skene INTRODUCTION
I wrote my first poem at the age of six when confined to my bed with measles. Writing poetry began my expressing love I felt for God. Over the years I kept writing as inspiration continued. My English teacher encouraged me to find new paths of expression. This came effortlessly for me. Writing poetry was the joy of my life.
So inspired, I could be found writing poems at every free moment. Years later when Ranjit Maharaj found me, it was my love for His Teachings that filled my heart, spilling over into my poems. Under His guidance, the first book of His Sacred Poems came into being. Little did I know when I began this work; it would extend over 8 years to include 7 books, one book a year. Each book an expression of the time it was written. Writing His Sacred Poems became the fulfillment of my life, for which I am eternally grateful.
Now it is a joy to be able to share all 7 books of His Sacred Poems available now in a single volume as well as in 2 parts: Volume 1 and Volume 2. Masters gift was my blessing to be the pen that writes His Sacred Poems. My poems come from beyond words. My thanks for the help of Nalin Shah and Kishor Chopda who were my assistants in India working with us to help get this book into publication. And, for Paul Wylan who worked with me tirelessly as advisor and consultant.
The word zero is used throughout the book.
Zero envelopes the entire universe. In the final editing of this book several poems were changed or removed. At this time with voice recordings, changes were not possible. Some discrepancies may exist.

Poems on Advait Teachings of Ranjit Maharaj
Book One PREFACE: THE POET
A poet writes from his heart and soul, The words he lives and feels. He has a secret meeting place, Within the precious time he steals.
He needs time away from a troublesome world, That pulls him here and there. Knowing full well a poets heart, Is not within the same frame work, That others share.
He walks in the ways of a yogi, With no commitment to stay.
He leaves a thought to find your Self, Then hes on his way.
Time spent in this troubled world, Turns his heart to grief. He writes to sooth away the pain, To give the world relief.
Now his words will satisfy, The holy and the profane. Live and Let Live, Then maybe youll remember, The words of a poet Without a name.

I slip into my sanctuary, And leave the world behind.
I gather all the words I hear, And put them into rhyme.
HE is also in my sanctuary, The most important part. Waiting there to let me know, His Words come through my heart.
I kneel to Him in reverence. Without Him Id be lost HE found me when I didnt know, I could lose Him at a heavy cost.
With Him I share my sanctuary, And with great delight.
Always living in His Presence, From early morn till night.
Slip into your sanctuary, Youll be surprised at what you see. Bring your heart filled with love, And learn you too are HE.
OVER THE BRIDGE
I walk over the bridge each morning, To a quiet place I found. Accept for the chatter of birds overhead, There is no other sound.
I remember His words, As I gaze at this view.
Its only a dream, The Master would say.
Its only a dream, The Master would say.
A place we pass through, Along the way.
There are many distractions, When I think of the past. But I remember HE said, None of it will last.
I pause for a moment, Before going within. When I feel His Presence, Its time to begin.
Theres a loss for words, When thoughts drop away.
At the threshold beyond tomorrow, Theres no more to say. WHERE ARE WE GOING
Where are we going you ask, And what brings us here? Theres no one to judge us, And no one to fear.
Leave all your problems, With the past behind. Think more with your heart, And less with your mind.
Give time for the Master, In thought word and deed.
Last of all give Him your ego, To lay at His Feet.
Last of all give Him your ego, To lay at His Feet.
When ego is gone Your surrenders complete.
THE TOUCH OF GOD
I heard His call in the distance, In answer to my prayer. Like the sound of thunder, Vibrating through the air.
HE hears our daily prayers, In the spirit we abide. HE feels sincere devotion, That brings Him to our side.
No soul is ever forsaken, Singing praises in His Name.
When time and space erase this place, Were in another plane.
HE knows each thought within us, Before we even start. Should we fail to remember.. HE whispered in your heart.
Dont take the touch of the world, This is His Path we trod. When we know we have no needs, Weve taken The Touch of God.
THE LONGEST DREAM
This is the longest dream, When you rise or fall. Into the endless rounds of birth, Whenever desires call.
Why hold on to this mortal dream, With all the doubts you feel. Go beyond the little self, To find that none of its real.
It all belongs to your ego. In everyone it shows.
Maya plays a skillful game, With all the tricks she knows.
So wake up from your slumber. Leave the world alone, and go. Forget the knowledge you acquired. YOU are ALL there is, To know
