I dedicate this book to my husband, Sergy, and to my honorable teachers.
Acknowledgments
No one does anything alone, as it is always a team effort that takes a project from start to finish. This team was heaven-sent, beginning with my longtime literary agent and friend, Elizabeth Backman. Beth has stuck with me through the years, and this is our fourth book together. She is the glue that has kept me on course, as this book was a long time in gestation before it was birthed. Beth is also the midwife, so a big Thank You, Beth. My husband, Sergy, was my cheerleader and coach all through the writing. Every team needs a coach, and I had mine. I literally could not have done it without him by my side. Who was going to be my publisher? As Spirit would have it, I was introduced to Joel Fotinos through a mutual friend, Reverend Paul Tenalglia of New York. Joel and I met for lunch while I was on a speaking tour in New York City and we became friends. He believed in me and I believed in him, so we made a deal. Joel is the publisher of Jeremy P. Tarcher, a division of Penguin Group (USA) Inc., and there you see how everything works out. God found the perfect right publisher for me and it was Joel. One last person was needed and that was an editor. Joel selected Sara Carder, who is on staff at Jeremy P. Tarcher. It was Saras magic touch that gave the finishing touches where needed. She was a pleasure to work with, and I am very grateful to her, for it was her talent that tied up any loose ends. I would also like to thank copy editor Barbara Grenquist for her excellent work. There are others on the team who have helped along the way, and I am grateful to each of you as well as to those whose names I do not know. Thank you for the contribution each of you has made to this book. Most of all I am grateful to God for the opportunity to write this book and for bringing us all together in this project of love.
Dear Reader,
As I have included many valuable exercises in the book, I suggest that you use a notebook for your answers. A notebook will give you more space to record your thoughts and ideas, and besides, if you would like to loan this book to a friend, your answers will be kept private. The word sacred actually means secret and some things are for your eyes only. I also look forward to hearing from you about the wonderful results you are receiving from following the Seven Step Sacred Treasure Map to the Spiritual and Material Riches of Life. You can reach me on my Website, terrycolewhittaker.com. I have a wonderful gift waiting for you when you contact me on my Website. Warm regards,

Introduction
Did you know that every great person was first an ordinary person just like everyone else? Its true, but instead of following the crowd, they followed the seven amazing steps that are contained in this book. Your question may be: How could it be that every person who has attained wealth, enormous success, lasting happiness, enlightenment, and fame took these seven steps? My answer is: They had to, because these are the steps that every person who achieves anything of value must take.
Although there are various streets that a person can travel to reach their destination, there are certain specific things that every person must do regardless of the route they take. For example, we need to know where we are going before we get in the car, unless we want to end up who knows where. Highly successful people, besides being certain about their destination, think and do things that the average person never thinks or dreams of doing.
Compare those whom you consider to be the most outstanding people who have ever lived with those who arent. Each has a set of creative tools, including the ability to think, feel, desire, speak, hear, imagine, and act; therefore, everyone has this much in common. The difference has to do with what people do with their creative tools. Some use these tools to suffer one regrettable situation after another while others win victory after victory. Same tools, different results.
Perhaps you are thinking that some cannot help themselves because they have handicaps, but many famous people were handicapped and attained greatness in spite of it. Beethoven went deaf but continued to compose exquisite music that is still appreciated today. Franklin Roosevelt, former president of the United States, was paralyzed and could not walk. Many who have achieved prominence were plagued with every sort of disadvantage you can imagine, but their passionate desire and strong will made them rise above their circumstances and attain prominence and fortune.
If you desire to fully express your talents; build your dreams into reality; associate with successful, high-minded people; travel to the most beautiful places in the world; have inner peace; be spiritually enlightened; have wealth; own a lovely home; be happy in your relationships; do wonderful works that make a difference and help others; or receive community and global recognition for your talents and contribution to society, then you will have to dare to be great.
Courage Is the Price of Greatness
Courage is the price one must pay for greatness. Pressure to remain average and to settle for that which is common is applied to us from every direction. Once a person raises their head a little above the others, envious people are quick to criticize. Many schools teach the young to be less than who they are as they encourage them to conform and lose themselves in the mass of humanity rather than cultivate and express their creativity, uniqueness, and talents and rise to the top.
