Shepherd Boy
One by one Jesses sons
Stood before the prophet
Their father knew a king
Would soon be found
And each one passed
Except the last
No one thought to call him
Surely he would never
Wear a crown
CHORUS:
But when others see a shepherd boy
God may see a king
Even though your life seems filled
With ordinary things
In just a moment He can touch you
And everything will change
When others see a shepherd boy
God may see a King
One by one problems come
And dreams get shattered
And sometimes its hard
To understand
But things like chance
And circumstance
They dont really matter
Our Father holds tomorrow
In His hands
Well it wasnt the oldest
It wasnt the strongest
Chosen on that day
And yet the giants fell
And nations trembled
When they stood in his way

TEN TRAITS OF A CHAMPION
Y ou are called and destined
to be a champion !
YOU HAVE VICTORY IN JESUS
Gods covenanta place of champions:
And David spake to the men that stood by him, saying, what shall be done to the man that killeth this Philistine, and taketh away the reproach from Israel? For who is this uncircumcised Philistine, that he should defy the armies of the living God? David said moreover, the LORD that delivered me out of the paw of the lion, and out of the paw of the bear, he will deliver me out of the hand of this Philistine. And the Philistine came on and drew near unto David; and the man that bare the shield went before him. And the Philistine said unto David, Am I a dog, that thou comest to me with staves? And the Philistine cursed David by his gods. Then said David to the Philistine, Thou comest to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a shield: but I come to thee in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast defied. This day will the LORD deliver thee into mine hand; and I will smite thee, and take thine head from thee; and I will give the carcases of the host of the Philistines this day unto the fowls of the air, and to the wild beasts of the earth; that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel. And all this assembly shall know that the LORD saveth not with sword and spear: for the battle is the LORDS, and he will give you into our hands. And it came to pass, when the Philistine arose, and came and drew nigh to meet David, that David hasted, and ran toward the army to meet the Philistine. And David put his hand in his bag, and took thence a stone, and slang it , and smote the Philistine in his forehead, that the stone sunk into his forehead; and he fell upon his face to the earth. So David prevailed over the Philistine with a sling and with a stone, and smote the Philistine, and slew him; but there was no sword in the hand of David. Therefore David ran, and stood upon the Philistine, and took his sword, and drew it out of the sheath thereof, and slew him, and cut off his head therewith. And when the Philistines saw their champion was dead, they fled (1 Samuel 17:26, 37, 41, 43, 4551).
To all of you whom God has called before the foundation of the earth (that is each and every one of you):
The world around you needs a champion! Your family, your village, your town or city needs a champion. God will bring people into your life that need a champion. Someone who is hurting physically, emotionally, and/or spiritually needs a champion. You are that champion! Yes, you ; if not you, then who? If not now, then when? If not right where you are, then where? If not for the people in your life, then for whom? You are the one that God has chosen and called to be a champion to someone in this very day and hour. Pick up the mantle and put it on! Do it now!
Forget about yourself. You may ask, Well, who and where is my champion; what about me? Jesus Himself is your champion! That settles it. It is time for each of us to pick up our mantle and be about our Fathers business.
In the verses that serve as our text for today and the next twenty-eight days, we see the story of David, a shepherd boy. We see that God called him from one of the lowest stations of life to be a champion. On this particular day, he was chosen and called by God to be a champion for Israel, Gods people. God is calling you to be a champion for His people today !
People need a champion
today more than ever!
Webster defines champion as a person who has defeated all competing opponents so as to hold first place, a person who fights for or defends any person or cause, to act as champion of; defend, support. Deep in my spirit, I hear God calling out to each of you today.
You are My champion! I have called you this day to be a champion for many in My name. People right near you and people afar need you to be a champion! I give you a mantle of My power and love. Gird yourself with it; arise and do!
A mantle is a covering. God has given you a mantle of power and love. Put it on. Be obedient today, and you will see the hand of God move like never before. No longer be concerned with what is being done to you, but what is being done through you!
Using our text as a basis, we will look at the following ten qualities and traits of a champion.
Trait ATTITUDE
Trait TRUST/ CONFIDENCE
Trait RECOGNIZING AND KNOWING YOUR ENEMY
Trait THE ENEMYS VOICE
Trait FAITH HAS A VOICE
Trait THE BATTLE IS GODS
Trait SEIZING OPPORTUNITYSEIZING YOUR DESTINY
Trait ACTION BRINGS RESULTS
Trait OVERCOMING AND VICTORY
Trait Y OU
I am excited to share what God has for us over the next twenty-eight days. Prepare your ground to receive the sowing of Gods Word in your heart. Many of you are about to step up to a new level of service to God. It all starts with you! It doesnt matter a lick who and what you are at this very moment. You might be like David. He had one of the lowest positions in life at the time of our story. He was scorned and scoffed at, particularly by his own family. He wasnt rich, nor did he have much of an education. He smelled like a sheep.
But, he knew his god and he knew he could live
and walk in Gods power and not his own!
He went from being a shepherd boy to being a king!
Maybe your situation smells today. It doesnt mean a thing! If you pick up Gods mantle this very day, He will raise you up and will make you kings and queens.
He will make you a champion!
We love you! Wally and Jan
