W hat is it about happiness that makes you long for its sensation?

Is it the satisfaction you feel that is accompanied by achieving a goal, or could it be the freedom you gain by releasing tensions from within yourself?

We all want it in our lives, but can we really see it coming?

Happiness, with its many meanings and forms, has been one of lifes most precious treasures and may undoubtedly be the most sought out reward to every endeavor. Over the ages, people have searched for opportunities that could grant them the bliss of being in this state of mind. Yet, no matter how much they all try to fathom every detail of their undertakings, there just seems to be no fixed formula that can guarantee each one of us everlasting pleasure. We all work hard, we focus, we reach out to whatever might grant us the promise of happiness, but the funny thing is that when we think we have it within our grasp, we lose it. It is not just enough to say that we want to live a happy life, but we should resonate with this intention in all that we do and say.

Everybody has the potential to be happy on the inside, but that all depends on how much you want it.

We all experience happiness as more than just a handful of positive abstract feelings towards certain situations or people. We can feel it in our hearts, think about pleasant memories, and manifest positivity through our actions. Not only does yearning for happiness ring in our thoughts, but our own bodies actually want us to experience things that make us feel warm and giddy inside as well.

Our brains are powerful instruments that allow us to feel positivity. The happiness sensations are mainly caused by dopamine, endorphins, serotonin, and oxytocinbrain chemicals that produce feel good vibes that block negative things like agitation, pain, and sadness. A surge of happy hormones can make wondrous improvements to our productivity, like boosting our self-esteem in order to reach our goals, developing our talents with the prospect of self-improvement, and creating meaningful social bonds. But as delightful as this may sound, they can be dangerous if they are unbalanced and acquired through unnatural methods.

Our world today has produced commodified attractions that offer instant satisfaction, capable of fooling our brains into thinking that we are actually happy. Social pressures also muster the false importance of status, which defines a persons self-worth. It is toxic for us to keep up with this kind of unhealthy competitiveness because it only hinders us from being our true selves. Being happy is not found in the act of jumping from one merry moment to another, nor can we forcefully bring ourselves to feel immediate joy or delight when we think we need to. Give yourself some credit rather than tricking yourself into experiencing moments of happiness when you give in to urges or when you repeat habits that are harmful to your body and mind. Living a happy life is a process that requires you to be your authentic self every single day. Genuine happiness is lasting, fulfilling, and calls for you to look within yourself for that drive. Accepting your strengths and weaknesses and knowing your true value may be the surest way to determine what is best for you.

The prospect of happiness being a personal choice can be both relieving and daunting for two reasons: onewe control our emotions and feelings, and twowe may not be in control of ourselves and sometimes choose to give in to anxieties and stress. How certain you are of your entire self determines how you can cope with tough situations under pressure, which is really easier said than done. We have all been faced with challenges that make us question our capabilities and may be guilty of compromising ourselves in difficult situations. Sometimes we cannot help but change ourselves a little, and hopefully, it ends up being for the best. With all the surprises and uncertainty that the future holds, it always feels nice to be grounded by something constantyour ability to be patient and kind to yourself.
