GROUP SIZE
The He Chose the Nails video study is designed to be experienced in a group setting such as a Bible study, Sunday school class, or any small group gathering. To ensure everyone has enough time to participate in discussions, it is recommended that large groups break up into smaller groups of four to six people each.
MATERIALS NEEDED
Each participant should have his or her own study guide, which includes notes for video segments, directions for activities and discussion questions, as well as practices to deepen learning between sessions.
TIMING
The time notationsfor example (14 minutes)indicate the actual time of video segments and the suggested times for each activity or discussion. Adhering to the suggested times will enable you to complete each session in about an hour. If you have a longer meeting, you may wish to allow more time for discussion and activities.
PRACTICE
Each session includes an application activity called a practice for group members to complete on their own between meetings. Although the practice is completed outside of group time, its a good idea to briefly review it before concluding the meeting to clarify any questions and to make sure everyone is on board.
FACILITATION
Each group should appoint a facilitator who is responsible for starting the video and for keeping track of time during discussions and activities. Facilitators may also read questions aloud and monitor discussions, prompting participants to respond and ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to participate.
OPTIONAL SESSION FOR WEEK 6 OF LENT
An optional session has been provided for small groups using this study as part of a churchwide campaign for Lent. During this final session, the participants will not watch a video but will have an extended time of Bible study and discussion as they prepare to celebrate Easter.
God did what the law could not do. He sent his own Son in a body like the bodies we sinners have. And in that body God declared an end to sins control over us by giving his Son as a sacrifice for our sins.
Romans 8:3 NLT
You alone are the God for usbecause you alone are the God who has been one of us. You felt what we feel, you touched the death that we know, you came to us as Immanuel: God with us.

Notes
The gifts of Easter are the most precious gifts any person could ever receive because they cost God so much to give.
[Your Response Here]
Gods greatest gift of allhis greatest act of love for uswas sending Jesus into our world.
[Your Response Here]
Jesus gave up:
Timelessness: Jesus swapped eternity for calendars. The Bible tells us God is beyond our understanding! The number of his years is past finding out (Job 36:26). There is no moment when God was not God, for he is eternal.
[Your Response Here]
Boundlessness: Jesus gave up being a spirit to live in a body. One moment he was a boundless spirit; the next moment he was flesh and bones.
[Your Response Here]
Sinlessness: Jesus became sin for us. An object that symbolizes the consequences of sin in humanitys heart is a thornbush (see Genesis 3:1718; Numbers 33:55; Proverbs 22:5; Matthew 7:16). The thorny crown on Christs brow is a picture of the fruit of our sin that pierced his heart.

We are by nature children of wrath (Ephesians 2:3 NASB). Though we have been made in Gods image, were corrupt at the core. The sinless One took on the face of a sinner so that we sinners could take on the face of a saint.
