Acknowledgments
So often we are touched by people and events in subtle but very catalytic ways. Every event and person that touches our lives has the potential to impact us and add to the color and wonder of our experiences.
I wish to thank everyone at Llewellyn for their supportive touches in all my writing endeavors, particularly Carl and Sandra Weschcke, along with Nancy Mostad, who have made me feel such an integral part of the Llewellyn family.
Also I wish to thank the wonderful British medium, Bill Landis, whose Flower Clairsentience demonstrations continue to inspire my imagination and my own efforts toward yet further development of my abilities.
And I am ever grateful to Dr. Peter Moscow who by touching my life, awakened new levels of friendship, respect, and professionalism for me in the metaphysical community.
I wish also to express my gratitude for everyone I have touched in this field and whose support has touched me in ways that I may not have ever acknowledged individually. To all I am very thankful, and I hold you in my thoughts and prayers daily.

Seeing Through Touch
I magine that you have gone to visit an old friend, someone you have not seen in years. You are invited in and told to make yourself comfortable while he or she moves off to another room to change clothes, or to ready some snacks for your visit.
You settle yourself comfortably in the nearest chair. Immediately, you know that this is your friends favorite. It is a little more worn than the rest of the furniture, but it is not its appearance that tells you this is the favorite. There is something moresomething indefinable.
You relax, settling into the chair. As you sit, you begin to realize that much has changed since you last saw your friend. So far, you have only had a few moments contact with your friend, but you have noticed so much.
You realize there is a great amount of nervousness about your visit. You can feel your friends tension in your own body, as if it is being passed directly to you from the chair itself. You wonder if your friend has money problems, but brush that impression aside when you look at the decor of your friends home. This is not the home of someone struggling financially.
You begin to feel sad and alone. For some reason, your friends mother comes to mind. You wonder how she is doing, if her health is all right. It has been so long since you have had any contact with your friends mother, you hope that everything is fine with her as well. The more you focus on her, the more nervous you find yourself feeling.
Then, you are no longer comfortable sitting in that chair. You feel a strong need to move. You have all this nervous energy suddenly and nowhere to put it. You stand, breaking contact with the chair, and begin to feel better. You breathe more deeply. Although you no longer feel the tension you sensed while in the chair, you still remember it, and move about the room distracting yourself by looking over titles in the bookcase, and viewing a wall painting more closely.
As you relax, you smile at yourself. How silly of you! You must be more nervous about seeing your old friend than you realized. You rationalize your feelings as originating from your own nerves. Any impressions you garnered about your friends current state of being probably was surmised from reading your friends voice and body language. After all, you were very close once. While growing up, you went everywhere together. Didnt your parents often joke about the two of you sharing the same brain? You chuckle softly to yourself in memory of it, and the last of your tension slips away as your friend returns and greets you a second time.
As the visit continues, you catch up on each others lives. You find your friend, like you, really was nervous about your visit. Things have been hectic at work; there has been much overtime and little playtime. Your friends mother has been ill, and expenses for care have increased to the point where it is becoming difficult to cover them.
Although most of what you felt while sitting in your friends chair is confirmed, the intensity of that experience is lost or softened. It has settled into a vague sense of I knew something wasnt right, but you no longer even realize when that feeling came upon youmuch less how it did.
We often have experiences such as this, but unfortunately, we have learned to deny them. We shut them out or ignore them. To a great degree, we have been socialized away from honoring our more subtle insights and responses. After all, we are encouraged to believe that the psychic realm is the stuff of fiction or simply a product of our imaginations. At best, experiencing feelings when touching an object is one of those unusual and unexplainable circumstances that we discuss periodically to add spice to a colorless conversation or dull social occasion.
