Acknowledgments
In everyones life, at some time, our inner fire goes out. It is then burst into flame by an encounter with another human being. We should all be thankful for those people who rekindle the inner spirit.

ANCIENT CHINESE PROVERB
Prologue
The gift is not being psychic. Its knowing you are.
DEBRA LYNNE KATZ
Many people ask me what was most challenging about writing my first book, You Are Psychic . They expect me to say finding a publisher (which was actually quite easy) or finding the time as a single working mom to write a book. (Sleep? Whats that?)
What most people dont expect is the truth: that the most difficult thing for me was getting over the ideas that were stuck in my head that clairvoyance cant or shouldnt be taught in a book available to a general audience. Along with such thoughts, I also had some pretty intense feelings of fearfear that I was revealing secrets that some people would not be happy to have revealed. Which people? The list includes some of my former teachers, and those who ran the psychic schools that only shared such information with students who agreed to sign up and pay for in-person, twelve-to-twenty-four-month training programs. Id also include some of the untrained professional psychics who didnt want to admit even to themselves that millions of other people could be doing exactly what they were doingand perhaps even doing it better.
There have, of course, been other books on the market for over a century that have taught ways to enhance psychic abilities, but there wasnt anything else that provided step-by-step instructions for instant access of information through clairvoyancea very specific psychic ability that allows people to see visions, images, and pictures about anything and anyone at any point in time. Furthermore, most books on psychic development do not explain how utilizing psychic abilities can enhance ones life or lead to a quickening of personal transformation and development, nor do they offer the tools for such utilization.
The main reason for the lack of available written resources was that those running the clairvoyant training schools had themselves come from a tradition in which training only occurred in person, under close supervision, and over a long period of time. These techniques are so powerful that they bring about fastif not instantaneouschange in people, which can be emotionally tumultuous for some students. Those who ran these schools knew how effective their programs were for training psychics within a supportive environment, and they couldnt imagine doing things differently. So some, perhaps most, of their reluctance to share this information was due to genuine concern. Some of their reluctance resulted from a lack of flexibility and imagination; some of it was a product of economic interest and fear.
Fortunately, over the past five or six years just about all of the larger schools (mostly those in California) have begun adjusting themselves to the changing needs and lifestyles of overworked and underpaid Americans. Many of these schools are now offering modified programs that can be taken over one weekend per month or even online. The result is that people all over the country have greater access to clairvoyant training.
The thirteen months I spent as a clairvoyant student was certainly one of the best times of my life, and it helped form who I am today. I thought the program I went through was perfect, except for one area within the curriculum that I felt was severely lacking and that still seems to be deficient in some of the schools today: there was little to no training to help students deal with being psychic, particularly with being professional psychics, outside the security of the schools that train them. In fact, we were taught that its cold and lonely out there in a world filled with atheists, skeptics, untrained psychics, and the ungrounded mainstream masses.
