CONTENTS
INTRODUCTION
I was fortunate to have been born into a family interested in the many alternative ways of looking at the world and interacting with it. My grandmother, Ysleta, and her sister, Del, were interested in psychic phenomena, dream interpretation, sances, hauntings, telepathy, spiritualism, psychic animal communication, and much more. My grandmother gave me my first deck of tarot cards, my great-aunt took me to my first sance, and my mother took me to my first past-life regression. These women all considered the nonphysical world to be just as real as the physical one, and agreed that there are many different and valid ways to get information in addition to the basic five physical senses. They were happy to share their ideas and experiences with me from an early age.
Growing up in this rich environment, I was taught to listen to my intuition, to delve into the wisdom of my dream-life, and to use any psychic tool in which I had interest. I was taught to not fear the disembodied, and to interact with them to obtain knowledge and give comfort. I came to understand many valuable things, such as how normal it is to be psychic and the importance of using your more subtle senses in addition to your physical way of interacting with the world. I learned that, really, while you can use tools like tarot as a springboard to help you interpret the ways that energy patterns are setting up and moving, the knowledge always resides within you. Psychic tools are just thattoolsand it is your mind, your emotions, your sensitivity, and your awareness of what your intuition and psychic senses are bringing to you that are the true basis of psychic work. It's your job to learn how to access the knowledge in healthy, clear, and balanced ways as you discover which psychic tools work the best for you. You may find that the innate psychic talents that reside within your intuitive sensitivities are the best tools for you, and that you prefer not to bother with physical implements such as tarot cards. Or you may find that jump-starting your psychic sessions using something like the tarot or I Ching serves as a helpful springboard for your intuition, moving you quickly to the heart of the question that is being examined. It's up to you.
I've heard many times over the years, from people who are not familiar with such things, that being psychic or consulting a psychic is something to be feared. Some people believe that just because a psychic states that an event will likely happen, or because you have a vision that makes you uncomfortable, that the statement made by the psychic or the vision that you have had is predestined and will always come true. This is not the case at all and not because the psychic is a fraud or because your vision was wrong. The event is not predestined to take place precisely because you have become aware of its potential in your future. The awareness of this potential allows you to be proactiveto change the patterns in your behavior or in your attitudes, in your emotions or in your thoughts, thus allowing you to act and think differently. In this way you can consciously and purposefully move your future in another direction and away from an outcome you do not want. By using your psychic senses to become aware of the potential future that you are creating, you can deliberately act upon that knowledge and guide your own destiny.
If the likely outcome that is sensed psychically could not be altered or diverted, I don't think there would be much use in knowing about it. Listening to your psychic side, deciding how you feel about that outcome, and then acting in response to the information presented allows you to make informed decisions and choices about how to change the things in your life and environment that are creating that likely future. It's like traveling to any destination. As you travel, you are on a road that has many different routes that you can journey on to reach your intended destination. All roads contain many turn-offs or paths that you can take insteadyou can even stop or back up. You can continue driving straight ahead into the lake which you have glimpsed before you, or you can turn onto a side street and go another way to your desired destination. Acting upon the psychic information that you have received works the same way. When you see what lies ahead, you can change your actions, your thoughts, your reactions, your feelings, or your approach to the situation, and thereby change the outcome, thus altering your future.
As you uncover, exercise, and hone your talents, you will sometimes find that the information you receive is not what you were hoping to findthe outcome looks like something you would prefer to avoid, or that will not work out the way you wanted. When reading the future, do not despair if you see something that you don't like. The future is not a cut-and-dried affair. When reading the future, you are seeing what is most likely to happen if you or your querent (the person for whom you are reading) proceeds on the same path which is now being traveled. People can change their perspective and reaction to foreseen events, and by those changes, alter the outcome of events and therefore the future. If you psychically encounter a possible future that you don't like, analyze the components that are creating that outcome, and then meditate on how you can change those components into circumstances which will benefit you. Examine your current approach and analyze what you need to change about yourself, both internally in terms of your emotions and perceptions, and externally in your actions and words. Those insights could help lead to the result you're looking for. Then your next question using your psychic abilities should be: What do I need to do to achieve what I want in this situation?
