M y intention in writing this book is to help people develop their natural psychic powers so that they can become a part of their daily life. Psychic ability is a gift that allows us to take on lifes challenges, to be one step ahead, to learn how to read and recognize the subtle messages in life, or to learn to receive messages from our soul or from our spirit guides. We learn how to do this by becoming aware not just of a physical reality, but also of the subtle reality of the spiritual world which encompasses it. This requires a great leap of understanding for many people since we have grown up in an age that neglects or ignores subtle reality despite the fact that millions of people read their daily horoscope, visit psychics and fortune tellers and go on the Internet for a quick-fix tarot reading.
You may think it implausible that you are psychic, yet I expect you have often sensed that something is going to happen or that someone is about to call and it does or they do! We may pass these off as hunches but in truth they are the result of different types of psychic powers: sensing the future is precognition and knowing who is about to call is a form of telepathy. Many talented psychics have denied or suppressed their powers only to find that once they have taken that shot in the dark, experienced that moment of discovery, life makes sense and a whole new spectrum of living opens up.
How to Use this Book
This book is not intended to blast open otherworldly gates so that you are sucked inside. It is designed to help you find the doors and pathways already in your life. It will help you discover what resonates within you so that you are able to call back from your soul and ancestral heritage the psychic gifts that you already possess.
To this end, I have concentrated on practical advice and exercises. This will help you develop your psychic skills and incorporate them into your everyday life. To help you identify with the concept of psychic powers proposed in this book, I have also included some of the experiences of people I know and admire.
It is not my intention to alienate any reader from her or his spiritual tradition; the practice of psychic power is compatible with the practice of any spirituality. It may even provoke a more profound appreciation of your religions mystical application or bring to you a wider understanding of how to work with your spiritual life in a mystical way.
Please read these guidelines before you read the main text.
Read this book through at least once and understand the concepts and principles before attempting any of the practical exercises.
I have tried to keep the text and information as up-to-date as possible so some of the information may challenge the more ancient traditions of psychic development and spiritualism.
This book will not qualify you as a psychic practitioner, but if you wish to use your psychic powers to help others then seek out a personal teacher (see Resources on page 180). Ensure that you know how to work with your gift and have an understanding of protection before you teach, help or counsel others.
Try the exercises the way they are set out here. If they dont work for you after a series of good and sequential attempts, then adapt them intelligently and creatively, using your own spiritual guidelines and techniques.
Do not mix these practices with others you have learned in other non-psychic disciplines and do not treat any exercise as a psychological or therapeutic technique.
Keep a journal or diary to monitor your development as this will enable you to see how much your psychic powers grow over a period of practice.
Keep your sense of proportion by regularly, preferably daily, visiting the natural world, exercising your body and keeping yourself healthy.
Keep your sense of self-importance in check with humour and common sense.
Finally, enjoy the unfolding of your psychic powers.
To all those who through the years have offered
invaluable advice and help from the Spirit World.
&
To my wonderful husband Terry for all his support
and to my children Sequoia, Ossian and Bede for
their patience and generosity of spirit.

P sychic powers are natural and intuitive everyone can develop their psychic potential if they wish to. Developing this skill is not only a means of connecting with the spirit world; it helps us achieve greater awareness and control over our destiny.
Psychic awareness is the natural ability to perceive things before they happen even guessing lottery numbers and winning on a horse race may have its basis in ones psychic ability. We are all psychics to varying degrees of sensitivity. If we observe nature its obvious that animals sense a presence long before it can be seen; this is essential for their survival. We use this same intuitive source in our work, during competitive sports or business situations to survive in the modern world. Our gut instinct helps us to connect with a sixth sense, or second sight, which in turn helps us to tune in to places and people both past and future.
There is no need to follow a spiritual path or to have strict religious tendencies to be an accurate psychic, but in most traditions training is required in order to develop accurate psychic skills. Each psychic works on many different energy frequencies and, if we have the necessary skill, these can dictate to us our future profession. Being psychic can be a bonus to the lucky ones and a curse to others.
What qualities make a good psychic?
Personality: Psychics tend to be bright, naturally intelligent and extrovert. People with more out-going personalities score more in psychic tests than those who are sombre, shy and reflective.
Sensitivity: Do you find that you get easily hurt and are oversensitive to people and atmospheres? Most psychics are also extremely sensitive individuals and even in childhood would have been considered oversensitive.
Creativity:
