Derwin L. Gray, lead pastor of Transformation Church; author of Limitless Life: You Are More Than Your Past When God Holds Your Future

Over the past few years of leading Catalyst, overcoming issues, lies, and barriers has become a central skill for me as a leader. During that time Ive watched as Clayton has been doing that very same thing, with great success. I just wish he had written Overcome earlier so I would have had this amazing playbook to help me along the way!

Tyler Reagin, executive director of Catalyst

If you have experienced life for any time at all, then you know the battle that rages in our minds is very real. I am so thankful for Clayton, who has provided us with a biblical game plan to identify the lies we tell ourselves and a framework to process the toughest faith questions we face. This book is a brilliant resource that can lead us to life-changing breakthroughs as we seek to renew our minds and become more like Christ .

Chris Brown, Ramsey Solutions

Overcome is probably Clayton Kings best book to date, and thats saying something. In it he plays the role of a spiritual counselor. He helps the reader identify the spiritual lies that have held us down and articulates the spiritual truths that liberate us from those lies and their devastating consequences. If you are a Christian who wants to live a freer and truer life, this is the book for you.

Bruce Ashford, provost and professor of theology and culture at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary; author of Every Square Inch and One Nation Under God

Listen carefully to my friend Clayton King as you read his wonderfully written and practical book Overcome . It will help you overcome fears and misperceptions that afflict all of us as he deals with real-life issues punctuated by real-life examples. One of my favorite sections of the book discusses suffering. King says it well: If your suffering wont go away, it might as well go to work. I love that! Listen to this and many other practical points that can help turn your life around and help you overcome!

Dr. Frank S. Page, president and chief executive officer of the Executive Committee of the Southern Baptist Convention

Most people wouldnt dare walk into a UFC octagon and take on the worlds toughest, meanest opponent. Yet every morning when you wake and your feet hit the floor, youve stepped into the cage fight of your life! Its the truth of who you are and where youre headed against the lies of what you arent and where youll never be! Clayton Kings life bears the scars of a man who has taken on lifes lies. His testimony is a trophy of victory. What are you waiting for? The bell has rung! The fight is on! Read Overcome ; youll tap into the power that will have lies tapping out!

Tony Nolan, evangelist, author, and mentor

We Christians all too often fall prey to axioms for living disguised as reasonable presuppositions that could not be further from the truth. In this book, Clayton reveals them for what they aredeceptive liesand points us to the truth and grace of Christ that challenge us to live instead by authentic faith.

Evans P. Whitaker, PhD, president of Anderson University

I highly recommend reading Overcome . Clayton is a tremendously effective and authentic communicator of Gods Word. Weve all bought into the lies that have held us down, and as Clayton states, Its like chasing a unicorn. Overcome is transparent and presented in a way that links us to the practical biblical truths that set us free. I have been blessed by reading it and know you will be too.

Bruce Frank, lead pastor of Biltmore Church

Epigraph

I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have OVERCOME the world.

John 16:33

Foreword

J esus certainly didnt talk like an Overcomer.

Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.

Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.

Blessed are you when others revile you and persecute you. Rejoice and be glad; your reward is great in heaven.

This, however, is the mystery of the gospel. The way up is the way down. The way to gain righteousness is to confess your unrighteousness. The way to grow strong is to admit your weakness. The way to become wise is to confess your foolishness. God only fills empty hands, and so only when you are weak in yourself can you be strong in him. Those who overcome the world are not strong themselves but strong in their confidence in God. Thats what this book is about.
