I have always been passionate about developing myself and others. I love learning and feel privileged to be a part of helping others to learn and develop. I first found out about NLP in January 2005 when I attended a NLP Diploma course down in Cardiff. This changed my life in so many ways. I discovered what is important to me and more importantly, focused on what I wanted out of life. I was able to appreciate other peoples point of view and build better personal and professional relationships. My professional life developed profoundly, which only increased my passion for finding out more about NLP.
By background, Donna Blinston is a professional staff nurse in an ICU-Intensive Care Unit and intends to bring NLP techniques into common practice in the NHS. After dealing with a range of clients she has realised that the realms of NLP are limitless, with different techniques and practices lending themselves to benefit professionals from other professional backgrounds. Each course has been specifically designed for their target audience and will enable professionals to reach their full potential, get what they want out of their career and enjoy their work.

THIS year, I will lose weight.
Do any of these New Years resolutions sound familiar? More than likely, most of us have created New Years resolutions similar to these. But how many of us have actually STUCK to our resolutions?
The purpose of this book is to show the reader the benefits of Neuro linguistic programming (NLP) in a goal setting tense.
It has been written for readers who have heard of NLP but are not interested in studying the whole diploma before they see the practical real life benefits it has to offer. Make New Year resolutions-AND KEEP THEM USING NLP! is an extract from Psychobabble: A strait forward, plain English guide to the Benefits of NLP, showing chapters 5: Goals and well formed Outcomes and Chapter 8: Submodalities, that is the importance of making well formed outcomes and then actually visualising that they have achieved them in the present day, seeing the benefits of the goal in its entirety, making it more realistic and desirable to boost motivation to achieve it. The additional benefit of this is to highlight any incongruences in you and the goal that would arise preventing you from achieving it.
Authors previous works;
Psychobabble: A strait forward, plain English guide to the Benefits of NLP, is a practical textbook written in plain English enabling you to navigate the jargon of Neuro Linguistic programming and realise the practical techniques this new science can bring you.
After introducing what NLP is and how it originated, the NLP Diploma is then broken down into techniques organised by chapter. Each chapter then follows the same layout, further broken down giving a real world definition, the benefits, the history and /or science, a reference structure and real life examples of using the technique. With the chapter finishing with examples of when and how to use the technique and practical exercises for the reader to learn and develop the technique further for themselves.
More importantly this textbook shows the practical benefits NLP can bring to a wide audience, making it ideal for recommended reading for students studying this subject or supplementary reading for most Business & Management Degrees, Healthcare courses or simply for professionals in management and leadership positions.
Make New Year resolutions - AND KEEP THEM USING NLP!
What is a New Year resolution? Why do we make them? To me a New Year resolution is a Goal I wish to make, motivated by the coming of a New Year and the ending of the old. Almost giving me permission to let go of the past and motivate me to look towards the future.
This is what makes New Year resolutions fantastic; they fall down because they are often made on the spur of the moment or in a drunken embrace with a friend! Surely the coming of a New Year and the end of an old requires more respect than this? By understanding, respecting and treating a New Year resolution as a goal we start on our first step towards achieving them.
The world makes way for the man who knows where he is going. Ralph Waldo Emerson
This extract focuses on goal setting and achievement through the well formed outcomes technique. This is the term used in NLP to describe a process of systematically refining goals, objectives or targets so that they fulfil the criteria. The process is similar but is more thorough than that of the more widely-known S.M.A.R.T goals technique. When our wants, dreams or wishes are refined using this process they become more believable and realistic, which is why they are then described as being well-formed outcomes
The NLP goes beyond the concept of goal setting by using desired outcome development. Goal is a general term and does not specify the actions to be taken in order to generate the desired outcome, whereas an outcome is highly specific. An outcome signifies a specific goal development strategy, providing a better understanding of the steps to be taken. Well formed outcomes can be applied on a personal, professional or organisational basis. This abstract looks into what makes goals successful, whilst highlighting potential reasons why goals have not been met previously.
