Psychiatry
and the
Spirit World
Beautifully written and meticulously researched, psychiatrist Alan Sanderson shares the journey to his ultimate understanding that we survive death of the physical body. He takes you by the hand and introduces you in a clear, sometimes humorous, way to various subjects proving this. This is a brilliant book by a caring physician. It is a book for everyone, no matter his or her religion, current beliefs, or even knowledge of the subject.
EDITH FIORE, PH.D., RETIRED CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGIST AND AUTHOR OF YOU HAVE BEEN HERE BEFORE:A PSYCHOLOGIST LOOKS AT PAST LIVES
Fear of death and the belief that death is the end of consciousness is the greatest neurosis of humanitya neurosis that has caused and still causes immense and unnecessary suffering. This book has one crucially important message for all of us: we survive death; the body dies but consciousness, or what used to be called the soul, survives; consciousness does not begin and end with the physical brain. The firewall erected between the visible and invisible dimensions of our experiencea firewall created by materialist or physicalist sciencetells us that the universe is dead, the soul does not exist, and life has no transcendent meaning. This book offers a welcome release from our imprisonment in these limited beliefs and breaks the spell created by them. We are free to welcome and explore the many anomalous experiences dismissed for centuries by both science and religion. In this anxious time of living through a pandemic, when so many people are dying, this book will bring comfort and reassurance that there is life beyond the death of the body. We owe Alan Sanderson an immense debt of gratitude.
ANNE BARING, AUTHOR OF THE DREAM OF THECOSMOS:A QUEST FOR THE SOUL
I read Dr. Sandersons Psychiatry and the Spirit World with fascination. He has brought together the full range of paranormal psychiatric techniques for curing mental illness. He specializes in spirit release, a therapy that brings healing to the victim by sending the attached or possessing spirit to the light. Using hypnosis, he engages the enraged, confused, or vengeful spirit and frees it. Dr. Sanderson laments that these highly successful techniques are never mentioned in medical schools and are shunned by most practicing psychiatrists, with their patients suffering the loss. The book also engagingly surveys much of the best research pointing to an afterlife. All told, Psychiatry and the Spirit World is a treasure for anyone bold enough to look for a fuller, more beneficial truth beyond the suffocating boundaries of an exclusively materialist science.

Acknowledgments
Acknowledging help received from old and new friends and contacts is one of the special pleasures that comes from writing a book. Its a real joy bringing you all to mind and reliving those creative times.
Senta Frauchiger, although no longer with us, and only a memory to my close family, must come first. Senta, you left this world more than twenty years ago, still uttering your favorite word, Incredible! which sprang to the air so joyously, wherever you were. Incredible! became more yours with every passing year, as an expression of your joy that our world and its inhabitants could be so beautiful. For those who never met her, I must add that Senta, the gentlest person I ever knew, taught English in a Zurich high school. We shared enthusiasm for English poetry and were in frequent correspondence, Zurich-London-Zurich, for years. Somehow, Senta, you knew my needs before I did. You sent me Sir George Trevelyans A Vision of the Aquarian Age (1977) long before I was ready for it. I was not impressed and told you so, but today, finally, I thank you. Incredible!
Lance Trendall set me on the path of treatment by spirit release, which was to help many people, directly or indirectly, overcome the difficulties that had troubled them and sometimes made them seriously ill for years. Lance, I shall always be grateful for your help. I appreciated your generosity in providing me with books by other pioneers in the treatment of spirit attachment and in demonstrating your expertise with my hospital patients.
I am grateful to many others who have influenced my book and helped in more immediate ways. Lois Joy Thurston was the first. Your artistic breath, L-J, was very welcome and got me off to a good start. Melissa Gilani spent hours and days, at an early stage, in careful reading and suggestions. Thank you, Melissa, for introducing questions that I never thought of asking. Valerie Richards, you too made some helpful comments on the text, for which I am most grateful.
Enthusiasm was vital to buoy me up and keep me writing. That was my life blood. Graham Taylor, an enthusiast from the start, was always helpful with thoughts on publication and ready to lend a hand when text needed shaking. Graham, you even sent an early draft to a top agent, whose reply, thankfully, was unwritten. Fred Zaromba is a name I shall not forget. I am grateful to you, Fred, and to your invisible mum for your great enthusiasm, which I so valued, at an early stage. Edith Fiore, psychologist and explorer in many areas, was more than generous with two published pieces, one a chapter long. I thought I was depending too much on her expertise to ask for a foreword, but I finally succumbed as I knew she would do it brilliantly. She more than fulfilled my hopes. Edee, I count you as an unfailing friend whom I can always turn to. I am much in your debt and am delighted to be sharing these pages with you.
David Lorimer supplied a touch of encyclopedic knowledge that flowed into characteristically helpful comments. Thank you, David. Im grateful for your interest.
My good friend Tom Zinser allowed me to include details about his guide, Gerod, whose comments nourished an important chapter. Thanks, Tom. That was an important link in the book, and just what I needed. Marcus Scriven (its great to have a journalist at hand) wielded his textural expertise to perfection. Thanks for that, Marcus. You were busy with film direction, but you made time for me.
I must admit that the book-writing journey has been a bumpy one, especially in the matter of editing, for which I needed and obtained highly expert help at the two-thirds stage from Kasia Trojanowska, on Andrew Powells recommendation. Though I regarded your changes as final, Kasia, I later made some unexpected changes in content, which turned out to be considerable. The book could not have flowered without your dedication and professional editing. Your hyper-professional views on whether chapters needed to be combined or remodeled and occasionally sacrificed were essential. You made the text stand up, professionally. I shall always be grateful to you. Andrew, your nuggets of advice were a great help to me, and your recommendation was much appreciated.
