Thirty-three years ago, the messenger Elizabeth Clare Prophet informed me that it was time to publish a book on the masters and their retreats. She felt that the world needed a complete introduction to the ascended masters, the angels, the Elohim and the cosmic beings so that mankind could understand the great love of these masters for the sons and daughters of God on earth. It was to be a book that anyone pursuing a spiritual path could pick up and read or use as a reference.

At that time we were living at La Tourelle, a beautiful mansion in Colorado Springs, Colorado. This was a physical retreat of the Brotherhood of Light, a focus for the ascended masters and home to the messengers and their staff. I was privileged to sit with our messenger as she wrote short biographies of the masters, telling the stories of their lives and describing the qualities that made each of them a unique manifestation of God.

I was also blessed to be present as she meditated in her prayer tower at La Tourelle. During these deep meditations, the messenger would look into the inner planes and visit the heavenly retreats and etheric temples of the masters. She brought back with her the details of all that she had seen and then spoke into a tape recorder. Later her secretaries transcribed her teachings.

I sat with her for many hours a day over several weeks while she did this inner work. My task, as she described it to me, was to hold the light while she journeyed to the inner planes of the heaven-world. Like a cosmic sponge, I endeavored to absorb any untoward vibrations, keeping the energy from her so that her soul was free to soar to the inner planes to do the work the masters assigned her.

These precious hours with the guru and teacher were a very high and holy time for me. I could feel the pure light radiation in the room as she communed with the masters, as they described the retreats to her, and as she visited them in turn in their homes of light. Hearing her speak as she returned from one of these sojourns broadened my own understanding of the entire cosmos. I learned of the Creators vast plan for his creation, and I was overjoyed to find that each one of us has a special part to play in Gods intricate plan for earth and her evolutions.
