Dr. Bob Jacobs

Dr. Bob Jacobs is Professor Emeritus of Communication at Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois. He retired there after teaching at several universities over a 40-year career. He is an award-winning television writer/director/editor and author. His continuing interest in the field of ufology began when he was an officer in the United States Air Force, in charge of photo-optical instrumentation of every missile launch down the Western Test Range from Vandenberg Air Force Base, from 1963 to 1966. In 1964, he was in charge of a tracking site at Big Sur, California, when his crew filmed a UFO interfering with a test flight of a dummy nuclear weapon over the Pacific Ocean. From that moment on his vision of the universe and his life in general was changed forever.

Introduction

Several friends and acquaintances have urged me not to write this book. They are undoubtedly correct in saying that there will be negative consequences for me personally and for my reputation as a reliable, nuts-and-bolts researcher who models his work on principles integral to investigative journalism. Nevertheless, after much hesitation and reflection, Ive concluded that I must confess something I have long hidden from the public: I have had unsought interactions with what I have come to believe are non-human intelligences.

I use the term non-human because, during some of my experiences, sentient beings who were clearly not members of our species were present and orchestrating events. I never anticipated this situation and regret that it entered my life, especially the encounters that apparently involved my being unwillingly taken aboard craft commonly called UFO s. I do not know whether these entities are from other worlds in our universe/multiverse, or from another dimension of reality, but I do know that my experiences were physically real, not psychological fantasies, and sometimes involved other hapless humans who were with me at the time.

Yes, I am aware that skepticsranging from well-meaning academicians to shoot-from-the-lip bloggershave long dismissed the alien abduction subject as pure nonsense or, at best, the misinterpretation of phenomena inherent in human psychology. While I will soon address those arguments at length, my personal assessment of my experiences understandably takes center stage here. I have spent countless hours over decades attempting to make sense of the things that have happened to me and cannot find a prosaic explanation that would convincingly account for them. Consequently, other, more exotic possibilities have to be explored with an open mind.

My public face is that of the leading researcher of UFO activity at nuclear weapons sites, as revealed in hundreds of declassified US government documents and the testimony of more than 160 US military veterans whom Ive interviewed over the past 46 years. Some of those individuals, including a few retired colonels, say that UFO s have actually tampered with American Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles ( ICBM s), rendering them temporarily inoperable.

Significantly, CNN live-streamed my September 27, 2010 press conference in Washington DC , during which seven of those veterans discussed their personal UFO encounters at ICBM sites and nukes storage facilities. The press release associated with that event went viral on the Internet, suggesting worldwide interest in the topic. (See Appendix A ).

Since 1981, I have presented my research findings at more than 500 US colleges and universities, as well as Oxford University in England, in a program titled UFO s: The Hidden History. Public and academic reaction to the lecture has been overwhelmingly favorable, as the hundreds of letters of recommendation in my possession attest.

In short, I have spent most of my adult life investigating and publicizing UFO -related events that have, at a minimum, national security implications for the United States and the other nations possessing nuclear weapons. Indeed, the types of incidents described by the veterans whom Ive interviewed have also occurred in the former Soviet Unionaccording to documents smuggled out of Russia in the 1990sas well as the United Kingdom, France and elsewhere.

But the question I have always asked myself is Why? Why have I been driven, year after year, to pursue this subject with such diligence and passion? Seeking out and interviewing military veteranswho had been told by their former superiors never to speak about their UFO experiences at nuclear weapons siteswas not without risks. As I will explain, unseen persons, undoubtedly working for some government group, have engaged in ongoing efforts to intimidate me, presumably to force me to abandon my research into very sensitive matters. While that harassment has diminished in recent years, it still occurs.

Moreover, standing up in public and confidently stating that UFO s have monitored our nuclear weapons program and even shut down ICBM s has proved to be, not surprisingly, a rather challenging undertaking. I have been mercilessly ridiculed, especially during the early years of my public speaking career, by debunkers of all stripesmost of whom had never actually attended my lectures but only heard about them after the fact. These critics included academicians, journalists, and members of the general population, all of whom held strong views about what they believed to be the non-reality of the UFO phenomenon. (But, again, those faculty members who did attend my lecture on their campus, and spoke to me afterward, were almost always impressed by its factual, documented format.)

So there have been sometimes unsettling consequences relating to my pursuits. Even so, my research quest, lets call it, has been immensely rewarding in terms of satisfying my own curiosity about the still-mysterious UFO phenomenon, while at the same time allowing me to contribute a body of credible data to the collective human knowledge base.

Nevertheless, after all these years, I am still left with the unanswered question as to why Ive devoted so much time and effort to studying the topic of UFO activity at nuclear weapons sites. It is not an exaggeration to say that I am compelled to do so, for reasons I dont really understand.

That said, in the back of my mind I have long suspected that I already knew the answer to this question. The experiences I will describe in this bookone occurring in early childhoodsuggest, at least to me, that a very real but mostly unseen guidance has existed in my life, emanating from a source that might be called alien. If I am correct, this outside influence, in effect, nudged me down the path that culminated in my research career and instilled in me the urgent sense that I must present my findings publicly as part of a consciousness-raising effort.
