Foreword

The Winning Mentality is a management book that takes its cue from the Holy Bible, without apology. From my little perspective on the sideline of the business world, the Enrons, Parmallats and their likes failed to win on the long run, not for lack of managers that were trained in the globally rated Business schools in the developed economies, but because they were in short supply of people that operationalized the principles of Christ discussed in The Winning Mentality.

Today, some of these Business schools know better and they are beginning to rework their curriculum. This is a fact.

Some years ago, my loving mother who has gone to be with the Lord, shared a privileged divine encounter she had with me. She told me:

I was at my business apartment in Freetown one sunny afternoon and just like a flash there was this open vision. A multitude of people of different race and colour were running in a particular direction. The frenzy was so much that children strapped to their mothers back suddenly jumped off and joined the race to nowhere! In order not to be left out, I laced my shoes and was about to join the race, but in a twinkle of an eye, a white board dropped from heaven and blocked my path. It had written on it:My own children do not run the way of the world!
In a flash the revelation ended. It is profound and still remains fresh in my mind till date.

The Winning Mentality tells us clearly that as a Born Again Christian, you have been engineered by God through the instrumentality of the blood of Jesus Christ to be a winner in all facets of your life.

Part of the beauty of this book is that beyond abstraction, it tells us how to engage this covenant blessing that has been provided. Clarity is provided between success and good success, between ambition and vision, and more importantly distinction is made between what constitutes winning in this world and winning in the kingdom.

What comes through on reading this book is that if you watch the landmines so identified, you can operate in the business world, and in fact in every aspect of life as a winner, once you have this winning mentality.

Finally, each of us must agree with the words of Bruce Wilkinson in The Dream Giver: But you were born for more. You are called to go after larger and larger dreams for God. And He will go with you.

I charge every reader to internalise the principles discussed by the Author and share same with those around. It has the capacity to bring many lives and destiny into divine alignment.
God bless you.

Ayo Oluwatosin

Everybody wants to be a winner in life. Regardless of whatever social status, irrespective of race, color, or religious persuasion, nobody wants to be a failure! Parents want their children to succeed. Coaches want their teams to win. Athletes train for victory. World armies train to conquer. Nobody celebrates failure. Losers wear no medals. Losers have no fans club!

However, winning is not just a function of external activities or a mere show of strength. Winning is also not accidental, but incidental. Winning is first a thing of the mind than it is a thing of the muscle. You cannot win without, until you have won within. This is even truer in the kingdom than it is in the world.

Little wonder then that Paul prayed for the Ephesian Church that they might be strengthened with might in their inner man by the Spirit of God.

Ephesians 3:14-16:

For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, That He would grant you , according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might by His Spirit in the inner man

Paul knew that strength in the inner man was the only route to a victorious life. He understood the character of the devil as a terrorist who needs to be resisted. He also knew that what you say without is a function of what you have within. If you have inner strength, you do not need the physique of a wrestler to defeat the Goliaths of life. Davids physical strength could not have matched Goliaths, but his inner strength founded on God and his experience made nonsense of Goliaths physical strength, which had humiliated King Saul and the army of Israel.

"Winning is not just a function of external activities or a mere show of strength. Winning is also not accidental, but incidental."

Inner strength impacts and determines perspectives to issues and situations. While an entire army with the king had a wrong perspective of themselves and the opposition, a man with the right inner strength had a totally different perspective. Saul and the army saw in Goliath, a mighty warrior, but David saw an uncircumcised Philistine. Saul and the army saw themselves as the army of Israel, and David saw the same army as the Army of God. Saul and the whole of Israel saw defeat in Goliath, David alone saw victory over him. Saul and the army ran from Goliath, but David ran towards him. His inner strength fashioned his perspectives. His perspectives determined his actions. The actions determined the result.
