DEDICATION

This book is dedicated primarily to God for His breath upon me and the uncommon access to His mind.

To all my teachers for all that I have learnt and keep learning; to my critics for constantly compelling me to self-examine; to my students who provide the playing field for the practice of my little knowledge, and to all men sincere enough to acknowledge their frailties, courageous enough to confront them, and committed enough to overcome them in the pursuit of vision fulfillment.

May we all live to please Him as we fulfill our purpose.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

My profound appreciation and acknowledgement goes to my family for the continued sacrifice that enables my writings. Thank you guys. I am blessed to have you.

To my leadership team in the Chapel of Uncommon Grace, I appreciate you for your candor, loyalty and continued support.

To all my mentors and senior friends in the faith, thank you for being my continual sounding board and restraining force. I cannot appreciate my friend and brother enough for being such an encourager at moments when doubts and misgivings raise their ugly heads, Jeff Oluwagbemiga, ours is a friendship made from heaven. I love and appreciate you and your lovely wife. Thank you for always being there.

To all my excellent team members who worked on the manuscript at various times; Ediri, Seun and Winnie my editor, I appreciate you all.

Finally, my sincere thanks goes to the entire congregation of the Chapel of Uncommon Grace for being exciting and supportive co-travelers on this journey of faith.

May we all live to His praise.

Foreword

Before you start to read this book, I need to let you know that remarkable things will happen in and around you if you resolve to allow the Holy Spirit work on you through the living words therein. One key thing is that the amiable mixed-multitude around you, are likely to desert you such that you might begin to feel lonely. The truth heralded in this book will task you to do a personal SWOT analysis, which definitely might cause you to make far-reaching decisions that might include the eviction of some personalities from the platform of your destiny.

This book will inspire you to do the rightful, and might demand that you relocate from your comfort zone in terms of career, ministry, family life and personal vision to the pathway of right standing with no room for excesses. It might lead you to detach from those you call your leaders. It might make you walk out on some of your traditions, if you sincerely plan to make the best of your divine obligation to fulfill destiny.

Pitfalls, as it sounds, are the deep or shallow pits people have fallen into and are still falling into on the pathway of life. It is a pit, and there have been thousands, millions, who have been saddled with the responsibility of pulling many persons out of the pit of life, but have ended up down there themselves, largely due to the points listed in this book.

A lot of brilliant and upwardly mobile young men and women have botched their glorious destinies on the platter of indiscipline of varying dimensions. Many God-appointed public figures and political leaders have erred and have had their vision blurred and eventually terminated on the account of pride. Humility became relegated as soon as God promoted them! Scores of anointed Minsters of the Gospel got caught up in the web of impatience, misguided faith and have had their entire ministry crash-land shortly or a long while after taking off. Some wonderful Church leaders have had the pulpit offered to them in the Lords vineyard translate to a pull into the pit (pull-pit) due to extravagant lifestyle dotted with pride and indiscipline. Many husbands have personally destroyed their own homes in a fit of senseless anger triggered by the notorious male ego. A teeming number of career women have checkmated themselves out of their once peaceful marriages due to impatience, emotional indiscipline and insincerity to their marital vows. They have the money, the affluence and the certifications, but they are out in the cold with no home and the opportunity of a second chance dwindling away due to pride.

The scripture in Proverbs 18:17 states that when you are given the opportunity to assess your own life by yourself, the tendencies are very high that you would excuse your actions and say it to yourself in the mildest form until a book like this comes your way. The first one to plead his cause seems right, until his neighbor comes and examines him (NKJV)

Now that this excellent book by Pastor Kolawole Oyeyemi is in your hands, dont be tempted to think it is addressing someone elses issues. Rather, see it as a divine memo addressed to you, and the best time to read it is now. Allow the Holy Spirit take it a step further into your heart and let the personal renewal and re-positioning begin.

The Lord be with you in Jesus name.

Jeremiah 1: 4-10
Then the word of the Lord came unto me, saying, Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations. Then said I, Ah, Lord GOD! behold, I cannot speak: for I am a child. But the Lord said unto me, Say not, I am a child: for thou shalt go to all that I shall send thee, and whatsoever I command thee thou shalt speak. Be not afraid of their faces: for I am with thee to deliver thee, saith the Lord. Then the Lord put forth his hand, and touched my mouth. And the Lord said unto me, Behold, I have put my words in thy mouth. See, I have this day set thee over the nations and over the kingdoms, to root out, and to pull down, and to destroy, and to throw down, to build, and to plant.

The design and scope of your destiny is bigger than you or what your imagination can conceive. God did not call you into any conference before He designed you. You had no part in your formulation. You had no input into your conception. You didn't determine who was to be your parent. You had no control on where you should have been born, what your colour should have been and who you were meant to be by God's design. Just like Jeremiah, you came to know yourself only after you had been born.
