INTRODUCTION
IN THE PAST TWENTY MONTHS, as of the time of this writing, two different books have been published showing in remarkable ways that 9/11 was Gods judgment on America for its sin. One is The Harbinger, by Rabbi Jonathan Cahn. The other is my book, The 9/11 Prophecy.
When I first heard about Cahns application of the Isaiah 9:10 prophecy to the events following 9/11, I could easily believe it was true. As the reader will soon see, I knew for a fact 9/11 was a divine judgment, because the Lord had sent my team and me to New York City with His deliberate warning in 2000, months before it ever happened (Amos 3:67). Furthermore, the idea of the sycamore tree and the location of St. Pauls Chapel both figured prominently in my own testimony. For one thing, I was accompanied on our mission of warning in 2000 by my wife, whose original Dutch ancestors had legal possession of both the World Trade Center property and the Chapel property at the time of New York Citys founding in the 1600s. What were the odds of this coincidence? And there was much more, as I tell. Thats why when I heard of Cahns message, I was quickly convinced of its authenticity.
Nonetheless, the amount of controversy The Harbinger stirred up gave me pause. I had also purposely avoided reading the actual book until my own was submitted for publication. Once my book was submitted, however, I began looking into critical reviews of The Harbinger. The most thorough treatment I discovered was a one-hour-and-thirty-three-minute critique by Chris Rosebrough that came highly recommended because it dismantled Cahns claim that the pattern of Isaiah 9:10 was repeated following 9/11. Its major point was that if Cahn claimed the same pattern was repeated with the 9/11 attack, then there had to be a prior warning, just as Isaiah gave northern Israel prior knowledge that the Assyrians would attack them and what would happen. The critique said that because that didnt happen with 9/11 and there was no prior warning, Cahns idea of a pattern did not hold up. If there were a real pattern, God would have provided prior warning.
I was blown away by this online argument at Pirate Christian Radio! What the critique called for is exactly what my book claims did happen. God did provide prior warning. In His mercy He sent a specific deliberate warning to New York City fourteen months before 9/11, through His own Word, and did so in full public view at Madison Square Garden (even though He didnt really need to because we already have the Scriptures in our possession which we are taught are sufficient for correction and instruction and that the OT was also written for our instruction). I was so excited by the point of this critique that I could hardly sleep that night.
Second, Rosebrough noted that the preceding verses to Isaiah 9:10 foretell the coming of the Messiah, which he gave as another reason for dismissing Cahns pattern. But again, that is also exactly what my book claims. I seek to prove from Scripture, history, and providence that 9/11 began the biblical events of the endtimes that usher in the Second Coming. For this very reason, what Scripture could be more appropriate for God to use as a providential sign after 9/11 than Isaiah 9:10 as a pattern to recognize? In fact, paying only slight attention to The Harbinger as I finished my book, I had wondered why, out of all the many other verses in the Bible and out of all the many other countries in the world and throughout history, the Lord would use that one particular verse as a pattern for the post-9/11 events in America. Why this particular verse now, and why for America? But once I looked carefully and saw its context, I was amazed. Here, in context with the 9:10 passage, was the promise of the coming of Messiah as a way to give the Jewish believers hope in the midst of judgment. And that was the very message of my book. The attack on 9/11 was not some arbitrary judgment, but in fact Gods instrument to begin the endtime events that lead to the second coming of the Lord.
I could hardly believe it. Rosebroughs thorough critique turned out to be instructive to meas iron sharpens ironand actually helped make my case for The 9/11 Prophecy. Because its primary objections were met, it would also help confirm the validity of The Harbingers application of the Isaiah 9:10 pattern to the events of 9/11 and our future. Having said that, I dont believe God now gives anyones words the infallible nature of the Scriptures. What Christian in his right mind does? All of us are prone to mistakes and errors. So why would anyone expect that any of Gods messengers today must be 100 percent infallible before we listen to anything they say? Who is infallible? Yet, why then dont preachers merely read the Bible verbatim on Sundays and say nothing else? Why do they preach? Do they believe God works through them? Yet who of them claims to be infallible and perfect in every point? But if not, then why do some hold up such a standard for a writer and teacher like Cahn before they listen? Must he be exactly perfect at every single point before we see and believe that God has called and is using him with his teaching about Isaiah 9:10?
