This guide is for those of you who wish to meditate but have problems turning off your mind. The chronic echoes from meandering thoughts can in fact be silenced, if you just know how. A s it is with most things, once you know the trick, it becomes easier to do this . I will tell you how I, a chronic and somewhat hopeless left-brained person, managed to do just that. And as the saying goes, if I can do it, just about anyone can.

What I will focus on is how to get out of your head . B y nature I am quite logical and analyze things sometimes beyond reasonability . But let me share a brief story with you that changed my life for the good and in doing so I found a way to inner calm.

In the mid 1990s, I absolutely loved riding motorcycles. My wife and I took motorcycle camping tours all over the western states and put on tens of thousands of miles on our Honda Magna 750s. It was a wonderful feeling of freedom on the open road with no windows or doors that would otherwise confine you and prevent you from experienc ing more than mere visual attractions . One day, I was hit by an oncoming car and this accident left me with a terrible concussion.

This concussion damaged the left side of my brain so severely that the left side of my brain literally shut down forcing me to live in my right brain . This was totally foreign to me since my entire life I made decisions and lived in my left brain. It was , however, a true gift for I was given two lives to live in one body . From my right brain, I saw how the other folks reasoned, thought, and lived. It was profoundly revealing.

No longer did I over analyze t h ings but I found a way to go with the flow and still be OK with my choices. During this time, I found that meditation helped me to deal with the stress I experienced as a result of this extreme mental loss.

It is this experience I fumbled through until I figured out how to do it, for meditation is truly not logical. I want to share with you what it took to get to that place of calm and how you c an too without having to suffer through a serious concussion to get there .

So sit back, open your mind, and lets take an adventure into the quiet. Lets see what this stuff is all about and find a way to get to this same point of letting go that you may have found quite frustrating. Getting to a calm place can provide not only peace and happiness but also extraordinary benefits for your physical and mental health.

On any journey you take, w hatever you do, t ake your time, do good work, and always have fun along the way .

Meditation for Geeks

The world is full of geeks and, in general, these people are highly misunderstood. Usually stereotyped as bookworms, number crunchers, nerds, gadget freaks, video game addicts, and intellectuals, geeks are much more than these categorically confining labels. While usually socially awkward and more content with their own kind, geeks contribute to fabulous inventions, incredible discoveries, and almost unbelievable advances in science without which we would find this world a far less interesting place.

Geeks have one thing in common: an obsessive focus on one thing , and then tak ing that one thing to a new level. So whether it is art, music, physics, science, sports, or whatever, geeks are all around us devoting their lives to advancing their one thing. Geeks built NASA, invented the first video games, developed the first telescopes, and found relationships between mathematics and everyday life to name just a few. Non-geeks usually group names like Spock, Steve Jobs, Bill Gates , and Warren Buffet into the geek category . O ther well-known contemporary names are self-proclaimed geeks such as Lady Gaga, George Clooney, Anne Hathaway, Johnny Depp, Angelina Jolie, Peyton Manning, and Taylor Swift.
