Preface

Volumes have been written expounding on theprinciples of faith. I believe faith is one of the most difficultand misunderstood concepts in religion and for anyone seeking fullcontact with God. This book does not pretend to have the magicbullet to boost your faith to a fairy tale power level.

This little book is written from my own lifeexperiences and personal inspiration. It is intended to be the bestanswer I could put together to answer the question, How do Iincrease my faith?

I urge you to understand there are no easyquick answers to a world we cannot see or touch. Man has tried todefine and describe God since the beginning of our physical timeand space. Understanding faith can be rendered near impossible bythe misinformation both inside and outside the Christian churchtoday.

My formal training is in the field ofeducation. My life has been a repetitive cycle of learning andteaching. Teaching with the confidence your information will be asnear accurate as you can make it and of value to your studentsrequires far more learning than teaching.

Please note there is no intent to influenceor persuade the reader to move toward or away from any religiousfaith or belief. I believe the things described herein are genericand pertinent to anyone regardless of their background, training, environment, or religion.

Chapter 1 Faith

Introduction to Faith

I have been told by family and associatesthat I tend to overcomplicate things. I admit I overthink thingssometimes. When I do this with a project I can think myself rightinto believing it is just too complicated to attempt. Maybe Ishould abandon it or just pay someone else to do it.

Faith is an easy thing for us to overthink tothe point we can convince ourselves it will never work for us likeit should. It is just too complicated. There are too many rules andvariables.

Be assured, faith is not too complicated.Anyone can have it in abundance. It is not hard to understandunless it has been overcomplicated and misrepresented by our taughtbase of knowledge.

Some will say that faith is to believe whatthe Bible teaches regardless of whether it makes sense to us ornot. After all, God certainly knows more than I.

Faith is not blind. We can know andunderstand how to live by faith.

How can I have faith when my prayers arentanswered? How can I have faith when I just lost my job? How can Ihave faith when my spouse or child is anything but a Christian? Howcan I have faith when I have no sense of relationship with God? Howcan I have faith when?

Faith is not dependent on our overcoming allproblems of life. We can and do experience faith every singleday.

This little book will explain how the faithyou already possess is related to a seed and how the seed relatesto our faith growing stronger in everyday life. Through the seed wecan see the simplicity and power of the teachings of Jesus.

The Blame Game

So you think you might have a problem withfaith? It doesnt work the way it supposed to work. You have triedit again and again, but the results continue to fall short ofexpectation.

So you ask someone who should know why thisis so. It must be something you are doing wrong. Maybe God doesnthear you because of some unknown reason. So you ask forcounsel.

The reasons you receive in response areendless. Much like other areas and situations of life there areextenuating circumstances to everything.

It must be an unforgiving spirit. Or maybeyou just dont act on what you believe. It could be you are waitingfor someone else to show up and come through for you. Maybe yourbelief is not strong enough. Maybe you simply dont believe atall.

Okay, more time on your knees in prayer. Ifthat doesnt work try fasting. And if all this fails it is the allpopular, God is testing your faith.

The list could include hundreds or any othernumber of sins that is supposedly blocking your access to effectivefaith. This book is not about finding, blaming, or repairing allour personal issues.

Paul said, But without faith it isimpossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe thatHe is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.Heb. 11:6

We mistakenly think or we are taught that wemust please God before our faith can be activated. The Apostle Paultells us the opposite. If we do not have faith first it isimpossible to please God.

He also tells us two important things aboutthe foundation of spiritual faith.

First - God Is

If we base our faith on God then it is anatural thing to expect God to exist.

Does it matter if we know the Bible front toback in order to know who God is?

No. God is. Thats it. When weunderstand or believe that God is, then everything else we knowto exist must fall under his domain. If not, he is not God or

He isnt. And again, God is!

Second - God is a Rewarder

First, God is. Secondly, we must believe thatGod is a rewarder.

Strongs Concordance shows in the originalGreek text the word rewarder is Misthapodotes which can betranslated one who pays wages, a rewarder. (Strong2009)

This might be understood to mean if we havefaith then our faith somehow earns gifts from God. But I think thatwould be a mistake.

Then why is the reward or wages given?

It is because we sought God out in the firstplace. He gives to those who diligently seek Him.

It simply means once we sign on with God,step one; we are rewarded for doing so. The reward comes notbecause we have done anything to earn it.

I am put off by salespeople who use the wornout clich How can I earn your business? I didnt go into abusiness to see if they are good enough for me to bless them withmy business. I went in there because I needed or wanted a productthey sell. All I want to know is whether they have it in stock andwhat the price is. I dont want anybody trying to earn my goodgraces. Neither does God.

God gives to those who sincerely seek him. AsJesus says, Ask and you will receive.

Simply Stated

When we exercise faith we believe God is Godand God will do what God will do. Faith is the belief in thatstatement and acting accordingly. Seed Faith is the name of thebook. The goal of which is to examine how Jesus again and againuses the seed to demonstrate this one statement.

Forget the blame game! God is God and Godwill do what God does.

Chapter 2 WhyWe Think Faith Fails

If we have ever sought to develop or generatefaith through the power of positive believing we have probablyfailed at least once.

There are more perceived failures with faiththan there are successes. Because of that I start with why we thinkit fails. Not why it fails, but why we
