Advance Praise
Barbara Harris provides an excellent resource that cuts through old myths and misinformation to give the reader her well-informed considerations for exploring the new world of medicinal marijuana use. With the increasing number of states and countries legalizing marijuana for medicinal use comes the urgent need for reliable information and guidance on the positive uses of marijuana and the dangers as well. Barbara writes from her personal and professional experience, generously sharing her great wisdom distilled from a lifetime of experience. This is a great book for anyone interested in marijuana use, not abuse.

I like the fact that in this book youre recommending marijuana not as just an anti-anxiety medication, but as a vehicle to help explore the underlying issues.

As a British psychiatrist, I enjoyed reading this new book. I believe it will become an important bible for clinicians who may prescribe Medicinal Marijuana. I was impressed by how well you balanced the scientific issues alongside personal reflections and the latest evidence-based clinical approaches to illnesses that can benefit from Medicinal Marijuana.

Dedication
This book is dedicated to the patient who has never used marijuana and those who have never used medicinal marijuana and the loved ones or caretakers who are assisting them and who may also not know about the secrets of this remarkable plant.
On the Cover
The ancient book appearance on the cover reflects that this plant has been around for longer than we can imagine. There are caveman drawings with marijuana leaves depicted interacting with humans. Eating cannabis as a medicine goes back at least 2,500 years to ancient China and perhaps earlier to treat malaria, rheumatism and menstrual pain. Cannabis use is also reported in traditional Indian medicine. Michael Backes notes that author Robin Sharma calls it the penicillin of Ayurvedic medicine.
Appreciation:
My deep appreciation goes to Randy Klinger and Esther Klinger the graphic artists who created the beautiful cover design and implementation of the design on each page of this book. Their creativity and enthusiasm were an amazing gift to me that continues to this day. And many thanks to Donald Brennan for his invaluable assistance, including for this Kindle edition.
Thanks to Nancy Strand for helping me envision this book. And to Steve Cartano at CartanoCreative.com for my photograph.

Preface
I do not recommend or negate the recreational use of marijuana. Instead, I will explore and describe the healing gifts that this unique plant offers to help balance us physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. Used carefully as I describe in some detail it has the potential to help us balance these basic parts of our life.
Using it as Medicinal Marijuana (MM) could also raise our level of awareness or consciousness. If youre already familiar with using cannabis, you may know that using it could change your perceptions to include a larger and more inclusive view of yourself, others and the world.
Many users already know that marijuana with high THC content should not be used -
While operating any vehicle or power machinery.
And what many may not know is that it should also not be used
While doing anything that needs your full attention and concentration, such as studying in school or doing homework or serious research, when making important decisions or working with your hands on a potentially dangerous project.
This is because using cannabis with high THC has been associated with causing memory defects in both our short term and long term memory and negatively impacting our physical reflexes and movement. While at times using it can trigger new ideas, possibilities and ways of seeing or looking at things, it can also lead us astray in a kind of faux creativity
Anywhere along the way you are in control. This may include developing and having a better understanding of your personal healing and the way you perceive and understand things about your life, your relationships and the world.
Through the suggestions in this book I will describe how to use MM to show you how you may think and how you can change the way you think if you decide to do that.
Each of us is unique with our individual health goals we may want to address by using natural cannabis products.
While I am not a physician and cannot give medical advice, I base my information in this book on my own experiences, the feedback I have received from my patients and on many other sources on cannabis information which I cite and reference.
As with any health condition, I encourage you to confer with your physician or healthcare practitioner about your individual problems.
