Welcome Message
On behalf of the National Safety Council, I welcome you as a participant in our Stress Management Training Program. Our society now recognizes stress as an underlying cause of workplace injuries and illnesses, making it a major safety and health issue. Therefore the relationship between stress and safety can no longer be ignored. Rather it must be addressed regularly.
Stress is, and has always been, part of the human condition. However, we now know that chronic stress is common in virtually everyone's life, and millions of people the world over are suffering the physical effects of emotional stress. It doesn't have to be this way, which is why we feel this program is so important.
As you work your way through this course, you will find various ways to help yourself and others keep everyday stress in check, whether the cause is emotional, physical, or external. Nobody has all the answers because stress is personal and unique to the person who perceives it. Be assured, however, that the materials in this program have been researched and designed by the National Safety Council to give you the latest, most comprehensive approach to help you identify and control stress.
I hope you will absorb all you can from the enclosed lessons and then put the techniques into practice, beginning today. Above all, please take time to find a sense of personal balance in the course of each day, make stress management a part of your daily lifestyle, and plan now to live a longer, safer, and happier life by managing stress well.
Best wishes to you.
Sincerely,
TC GILCHREST PRESIDENT NATIONAL SAFETY COUNCIL - photo 5
