SEE YOUR DOCTOR BEFORE YOU DIET

For Bella,

Who is everything thats beautiful in life, all at once.

You, and no one else, make me feel like anything is possible.

I love you very much.

AND THE OSCAR GOES TO

Dear reader, this section of a book is normally called the Acknowledgements. Its such a long word. I mean, why bother when nobody usually reads that part! But this time, I hope youll make an exception, because I want to thank you.

Without you, this book wouldnt exist. This really is sounding like an Oscar speech! But its true, without people who want to improve something, our planet would just stay the same. Making things better is what keeps the human race going.

And perhaps the greatest something to improve, is ourselves. It takes guts to admit that things arent perfect, and it takes even more guts to do something about it. Most people talk big, and act small. Youre already braver and smarter than them.

Sometimes there are naughty types who sense your dream to find a better way, and they take advantage. I saw this happen way too often, and like you, I decided to make things better. I wrote this book. And now, Im going to get you that first OMG.

The medical community think you shouldnt read this book. Your parents might think you shouldnt read this book. Perhaps even your friends think you shouldnt read this book. And youre still reading?

Good job! Its your life. Only you walk around in your shoes. Only you wake up with your thoughts. And only you will fall asleep to them. Should and shouldnt are useless words. Even reading them can make you feel under pressure. Trash them!

KNOWLEDGE IS GOLDEN

Before this book hit the mainstream, it came under lots of fire. With OMG and Skinny in the title, I suppose it was to be expected. What I didnt expect, was criticism from those who hadnt actually read it. Thats like criticizing your blind date before they show up!

Scientists are taught to not do that (in a metaphorical sense of course, as scientists dont go on dates), but sometimes even they slip up. We live in a world full of information, and to prevent overload, we often dismiss huge chunks of it in a heartbeat.

When it comes to your health, I urge you to criticize nothing without good reason. Theres just a chance that beyond all the smiles, and jokey comments, theres some jaw-dropping science waiting to help you. I didnt invent it, or even discover it. I simply didnt dismiss it. Be open, be open, be open.

The only way to truly silence people is to show them what you mean. If you live this book for 6 weeks, youll do that. And if you change as much as I know you can, theyll be surprised enough to greet new you with those 3 magic letters, O M G!

Many industry people worried when they found out I was going to write this. Why? Because they knew Id cut the crap. And they knew that if I did that, youd probably stop buying their next diet, exercise secret, or food product.

I believe that if you simply get told to do something, youll stick to it for a while, and succeed, for a while. And thats the problem. After you stop getting told, you just rebel and slowly go back to what youre used to.

I also know that when you understand how stuff works, youll stick to it. In fact when you really understand, it wont feel like you need to stick to it at all. Youll simply stop thinking about those old habits and old beliefs, and youll have developed new mechanisms. Permanent success!

WHY ARE YOU READING THAT?

Many will say that you dont need any help, including parents. They might state that, youre fine as you are, its unhealthy, or repeat the classic, its just puppy fat. Guess what, YOURE NOT A PUPPY ! Are they right about the other stuff?

No. Only you can ever decide if youre fine. No one else. Even with serious eating disorders, bad habits only stop when a patient changes how they see themselves. As early as you can, develop the skill of seeing yourself accurately.

Is this book unhealthy? No. I can hear doctors muttering in the distance! If youre young, they believe you should just let Mother Nature take care of things. If Mom knows best, Mom Nature can surely be left alone, and all be okay.

Yeah right! Allowed to be natural, we can order pizza at midnight or travel miles without hardly moving a muscle. We live in a world full of modern luxuries. Mother Nature left town 30 years ago and shes not coming back!

Doctors are very aware of research that shows most adult diseases usually start when were young, and are linked to being too fat. They also know that if you stay skinny when youre young, youre less likely to be a fadult (a fat adult).

Despite knowing this, the medical community is always very sensible. They think its best to play it safe. Its dangerous to play it safe! Its much more sensible to start taking a big interest in yourself, by learning about what works today.

This book will also boost your mental health by helping you look good and feel more in control. Having confidence is crucial, and getting it today is tougher than at any time in human history. You deserve to walk with confidence
