ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Sean P. Murphy, FACHE, CPHIMS, CISSP-ISSMP, CIPP/IT, HCISPP, is currently a senior vice president at Boeing Employees Credit Union (BECU) and serves as the organizations chief information security officer. Prior to joining BECU, Sean held several senior-level health information privacy and security officer positions in various organizations. He is a healthcare information security expert with nearly 25 years of experience in the field, serving at all levels of healthcare, from community hospital, to international integrated delivery system levels securing government and commercial delivery systems. Sean retired from the US Air Force Medical Service Corps after reaching the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He has served as CIO and CISO in the military, in civilian healthcare organizations, and now in the financial sector, but his proudest professional accomplishment was his service as a senior mentor to the Afghan National Police Surgeon Generals Office in 20082009 in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. He has a masters degree in business administration (advanced IT concentration) from the University of South Florida, a masters degree in health services administration from Central Michigan University, and a bachelors degree in human resource management from the University of Maryland. Sean is an active member of (ISC)2 and has thrice earned (ISC)2 certification. He was part of the consortium of security industry, healthcare, academic, and government experts that came together to develop the first exam and establish the HCISPP credential. Since then, he has authored and contributed to several information security and healthcare information protection books, including Healthcare Information Security and Privacy (McGraw Hill Professional, 2015) and Official (ISC2) Guide to the CISSP CBK (2015). He is a past chairman of the HIMSS Privacy and Security Committee and is a fellow and a leader on the US Department of Health and Human Services Healthcare and Public Health Sector Coordinating Council (HPH SCC) Joint Cyber Security Working Group (JCWG).

About the Technical Editor

Lori Reed-Fourquet is a principal at e-Healthsign, LLC, consulting in health informatics. She is the convener for ISO/TC 215/WG 4 on health informatics privacy, security, and safety. She also serves as planning co-chair for IHE Quality, Research, and Public Health committee and is an active member of the IHE Patient Care Coordination committee and the HL7 Patient Administration, HL7 Structured Documents, and HL7 Public Health Work Groups. Lori has been working in medical and health informatics for more than 20 years, serving in numerous leadership capacities and creating successful collaborations, pilots, and deployments involving diverse healthcare communities in competing markets. She was part of the contracting team to the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC) security and privacy and standards harmonization initiatives as part of the United States efforts to advance nationwide interoperable health information technology. She serves as a technical assessor for ANSI-ASQ National Accreditation Board (ANAB), an ONC-approved accreditor for the Permanent Certification Program for Health Information Technology. She has developed health information exchange (HIE) security and privacy policies for multiple HIE initiatives, including those in the United States and Saudi Arabia. She holds a masters degree in computer science from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
