About the Authors

Thomas Olzak is an IT professional with over 26 years of experience in programming, network engineering, and security. He has an MBA and is a CISSP. He is currently the director of information security at HCR ManorCare, an Ohio-based leading provider of short- and long-term medical and rehabilitation care with more than 500 locations in 32 states. At HCR ManorCare, he is responsible for managing the corporate security program, change management, and business continuity planning. He is also the CEO of a security training company. Prior to his current job, he held positions as a network and server engineer, director of infrastructure engineering, director of technical operations, and programming manager at a variety of manufacturing and distribution companies. Before joining the private sector, he served 10 years in the United States Army Military Police with 4 years as a military police investigator. He has written a book, Just Enough Security, and various papers on security management.

Jason Boomer is a senior network engineer with HCR ManorCare. He currently provides senior-level strategic and technical support for all Microsoft Server and Client devices in the HCR ManorCare enterprise. His specialties include server- and client-side automation solutions; Active Directory design, implementation, and support; application packaging and deployment; and operating system deployment automation. Jasons background includes positions as senior technical consultant for Pomeroy IT Solutions, as a senior system administrator for La-Z-Boy Incorporate, as a senior systems engineer for Sequoia, and as a senior systems engineer at InaCom.

Robert M. Keefer (MCSA + Messaging, MCSE Windows Server 2003, Security+, CIEH) is a security analyst for HCR ManorCare. He currently works to maintain and improve the security stance of the company by identifying and investigating issues, reviewing and recommending new products, and monitoring systems for policy violations as well as performing risk assessments and penetration tests. His specialities are in vulnerability assessment and ethical hacking. Roberts background includes positions in IS management and as a senior network engineer for a systems integrator in Ann Arbor, MI. He currently resides in southeast Michigan.

James Sabovik is the manager of production operations at HCR ManorCare, where he has also served as the manager of network engineering and database administration. He is an IT veteran with more than 15 years of experience, including designing, deploying, and maintaining such things as Active Directory, Exchange, and server and network infrastructures. In addition, he has managed teams of engineers responsible for more than 600 servers, both physical and virtual, and 15,000 client devices spread out across the majority of the United States.

James holds a bachelors degree in computer and information science from Ohio State Universitys College of Engineering.

TECHNICAL EDITOR

Kenneth Majors (MCSE, MCITP, ITIL v3, Project+, VMware VCP, Citrix CCEA, CCA) is a vice president of systems architecture for Choice Solutions LLC, a systems integrator headquartered in Overland Park, KS. Choice Solutions provides IT design, project management, and support for enterprise computing systems. He is a key contributor to defining best practices for Microsoft technologies, including Windows Server, Hyper-V, and Systems Center; Citrix XenApp, XenServer, and XenDesktop; VMware vSphere and View; and development of documentation standards. He develops technology solutions and methodologies focused on improving client business processes. These technology solutions touch every part of a systems life cyclefrom assessment, blueprint, construct, and deployment on projects to operational management and strategic planning for the business process.

Kenneth holds a bachelors degree from Colorado Technical University. He currently resides in Olathe, KS, with his loving and supportive wife, Sandy, and near their daughter, Tabitha, and their grandsons, Wesley (Peanut) and Austin. Their son, Keith, is currently on active duty with the US Navy.
