Introduction

I will always remember being 5 years old, seeing the movie Star Wars with my dad when it first came out.

I was in awe of the epic space adventure with all of its imaginative characters, to the point that I would beg my parents to buy me a Star Wars action figure each time we walked past one in a toy store.

Star Wars had the good guys of the Rebel Alliance, led by Luke Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Han Solo and Chewbacca, Princess Leia, and the droids, C-3PO and R2-D2.

Of course, Star Wars also gave us the bad guys of the Empire, such as the villainous General Tarkin, Darth Vader, the army of Stormtroopers, and the Empires ultimate weapon of mass destruction, the Death Star... capable of destroying an entire planet!

There is also the one scene in the movie that scared the living daylights out of me. You may remember it.

Upon General Tarkins command, his minions scramble to crank up the Death Stars powerful laser beam. Then, Princess Leia is forced to watch helplessly as the Death Star blows up her home planet.

Can that really happen? Can the Death Star blow up the Earth? I asked my dad, frantically crawling onto his lap.

No, son. This is all make believe, he told me, explaining how the special effects in the movie were done with miniature models. There isnt anything that can blow up our world.

I still frequently recall that moment in my personal history. Particularly, those words my dad used to comfort me when I was scared during my introduction to Star Wars.

There isnt anything that can blow up our world.

You see, Im now in my 40s, with a wife and two kids of my own, and Ive come to realize my dad was wrong.

There actually is something that can blow up our world... at least our Financial World .

What is my Financial World ? you might ask.

Picture everything you own, whether its money in: checking or savings; investments (including stocks, bonds and mutual funds); 401k and other retirement accounts; equity you have in any homes; other assets or businesses you own; and income you now earn and may earn in the future.

Add up all of those things above, and that is your Financial World.

Now youre probably thinking: Is there really something that can blow up my Financial World ?

Yes, there is. Its kind of like a DISASTER STAR , and it is any one of many common daily risks that we all face each and every day.

A DISASTER STAR can blow up your Financial World , leaving you and your family in a state of FINANCIAL DISASTER ... which can almost be as bad as death itself.

Unlike the Rebel Alliance in Star Wars, I dont have to worry about just one measly Death Star floating around out there somewhere. I dont have that luxury because there are SEVEN different DISASTER STARS that can destroy my Financial World .

The same goes for you and everybody else.

For years, my job as a Trusted Risk Advisor has been helping people manage daily risks... or DISASTER STARS ... so their Financial World is safely protected. In this book, Ill explain to you in greater detail what the most common DISASTER STARS are, and how to protect yourself from them.

Ill also describe how to avoid THREE HUGE MISTAKES that usually lead to FINANCIAL DISASTER . The bad news is, like many individuals and families I have observed and worked with throughout the years, youre probably already making one of these THREE HUGE MISTAKES. The good news is, once you know how to recognize them, they are easy and inexpensive to correct.

So, thank you for reading this book! I truly hope it will help you and those you love to AVOID FINANCIAL DISASTER .

Always plan ahead. It wasnt raining when Noah built the ark.
Richard Cushing

The 1st Risk Threatening Your Financial World Each Day

The first risk you face daily is if you, or a relative living in your home, cause an automobile accident that injures or kills another person. Are the liability limits on your auto insurance policy high enough to pay for someones medical bills if their neck is injured, or if they died?

Real Life Example:

Andrew is a builder. He and his wife, Amber, have five children, three are grown and two are teenagers. Andrew and Amber were concerned about many things, particularly the fact that they were not doing enough to save for retirement. They had put a few things on the backburner while raising their family, and retirement planning was one of them.
