Dedication

Ovide Bourdeau 1912 -1950

Dedicated to, in memory of, and as a tribute to my adopted father no one knows about, Joseph Ovide Omer Bourdeau, who died March 24, 1950, aged 37 years and eight months.

Ovide:

Murdered from premeditated poisoning

in a third floor cold flat with only a back entrance

at 2696 Workman Street in south west Montral,

by his wife, my biological mother, Georgette Chevalier,

with one of her boyfriends, Lopold Legault,

when I was 12 years and 4 months old

A pernicious act they indeed both got away with.

Ovide:

A man physically crippled from polio, highly intelligent,

officially uneducated but autodidact,

intellectually curious and open-minded,

a passionate reader, a futurologist of a kind,

and sadly, ridiculed by his entourage.

A nave person and a most gentle soul,

who always thought the best about everyone.

Ovide:

In my tender years, a father who taught me

the joy of curiosity and the inherent sanity enjoyed,

whenever viewing the world with an open mind as it really is,

and this despite being an unfortunate victim from birth of

multiple versions of the Personal Calamity Syndrome.

Ovide:

The one who taught me by example to question everything at all times,

and demanded I open my mind to everything at all times.

A forward-looking young man who insisted that:

Questioning and testing was the only intellectual tool at our disposal,

and from which all others rested upon.

Ovide:

Yes! In my 84 th year now ending, I still say:

I never forgot you.

Every day I think of you.

I will always remember you.

I always respected you.

I will always love you.

To my first and only life mate of 61 years.

A loving, kindhearted, exceptionally intelligent, remarkably brave, outstandingly beautiful, thankfully defiant, jovially broadminded, intellectually toughminded, astonishingly patient, unbelievably sensual, generous, and an unshakable heroic survivor as a victim of a pernicious Personal Calamity Syndrome.

A woman, who nevertheless demonstrated extraordinary resolve and beat the oddsuntil sadly overwhelmed by those heartbreaking memories again in the winter of her life. A soulmate with whom life has been both wonderful and a worthwhile challenge.
