Sustainability Made Simple: Small Changes for Big Impact: summary, description and annotation

We offer to read an annotation, description, summary or preface (depends on what the author of the book "Sustainability Made Simple: Small Changes for Big Impact" wrote himself). If you haven't found the necessary information about the book — write in the comments, we will try to find it.

Sustainability Made Simple is an introduction to sustainability and sustainable living that explores the relationship between everyday life and the intricate global environmental issues of today, including air and water pollution, deforestation, and climate change. Rosaly Byrd and Laurn DeMates offer an optimistic yet realistic perspective on our impact on the environment, giving much needed guidance to those who are interested in finding new and relatively easy ways to incorporate sustainability into daily life.
An excellent resource for those who are interested in learning what sustainability is about and picking up habits to be more sustainable, Sustainability Made Simple shows that adopting a sustainable lifestyle doesnt require going off the grid or making drastic life changes that take time and cost money. Instead, Byrd and DeMates focus on the advantages and transformative changes associated with sustainability, demonstrating that although society is facing unprecedented environmental challenges, working towards sustainability is an opportunity to do things differently and do things better, enhancing aspects of life, such as health, work and community.

Acknowledgments

We would like to thank Matt Orr, Sebastien Gachot, Christine DeMates, and the rest of our family and friends for their support in writing this book as well as their willingness to try new sustainability tips. Sustainability and writing can both be intimidating, but through the solidarity and the inspiration we received along the way, Sustainability Made Simple is here today. This book not only reflects what we set out to write but was shaped by the stories of those impacted by environmental issues and those dedicated to making improvements in their communities and the world. We are more inspired than ever.

We would also like to acknowledge the University of California, San Diegos School of Global Policy and Strategy (formerly known as IR/PS) for bringing us together in the first place and enabling us to take on the important issues explored in this book.

An Ending Note

Individuals play a pivotal role in making the structural changes for sustainability possible. When we make conscious and informed decisions, we contribute to a better future for people and the planet. Companies, governments, nonprofit organizations, and others are addressing big issues by taking new and holistic approaches to the unsustainable ways things have been done in the past, but they can do more with our help. Beyond incorporating sustainability into our regular routines, we as individuals can take other steps to help our communities be more sustainable, signal to policymakers what we value, and share sustainable habits with others. Sustainability offers a vital opportunity for us to change the way we interact with the environment and gives us a guide to how we can protect and enhance our own lives and communities.
