Kindle Keywords - TheBook
Author: ArielSanders
Introduction
I know what its like to publish abook on Kindle only to watch the tumbleweeds blow through youraccount. Week after week, no sales. No reviews. Nonothing.
It can be frustrating when you lookaround and see that other people are not only making sales withtheir books (that arent half as good as yours), but they aremaking a TON of sales! You figure if these people can do it, so canyou (and thats true). If only you could discover their Kindlemarketing secrets, then you too could become a fulltime Kindlepublisher.
The thing is, there arent anysecrets...
If you want to become a bestseller onKindle, then the only thing you have to do is get your book on thefirst page of Kindle.com for high-paying, high-traffickeywords.
Believe it or not, is completelypossible for you to rank your books within Kindle and make HUGEsales organically.
So, how to rank onKindle?
We need to find a keyword firstpage:
Easy to Rank
Profitable
High Traffic
7 keywords
How to rank onKindle?
When you first publisher both in theKindle direct publishing page, youll find that you are asked toenter seven keywords for your book.
Lets take a look at the officialexplanation from Amazon as to why you should enter thesekeywords:
Search keywords help readers findyour book when they search in Kindle Store.
This is the hidden secret to gettinghuge organic traffic.
Why?
Because when you choose the correctkeywords where you will be able to rank on the first page ofKindle, your book will start giving organic sales within hours ofpublishing. Rank on page one for the right keyword and you couldbecome a bestseller nearly overnight.
Title &Description
How to rank onKindle?
There are other places that we canput our keywords as well. If you miss utilizing these points, youre going to miss out on a lot of extrasales.
Placing keywords in the title anddescription will give you the added vantage of an increased keyworddensity which sends signals to the Amazon algorithm to rank yourbook more highly.
How to know which Keywords tochoose?
First we will try to find many Hitraffic Keywords in our book subject
Search bar
When you begin searching in theKindle marketplaces search bar you will see that Kindle providessuggested searches.
These suggested search terms arekeywords that are the most commonly searched for by prospectivebuyers on Kindle.
In other words, these are high demandkeywords.
Take note of keywords that pop up inthe related keyword section when you search on
Kindle because these are some of thekeywords you want to rank for.

Related keywords
The related keywords that Amazonprovides means that these are keywords that have huge earningpotential.
You can take these keywords and usethem as variations for your search term knowing that Amazon itselfagrees with those connections.

AdWords Keywords
Google can also provide us withtraffic data through its Adwords Keywords Ideastool.
Generally speaking, if a lot ofpeople are searching for information on a given topic, then therewill likely be a demand for books of on the sametopic.
Ideally, any keyword that you findshould have over 1000 exact match searches permonth.
Anything lower than this and you runinto problems with not enough demand.
We have The TrafficKeywords
Now we have the traffic keywords fromthe Kindle suggested keyword exercise that we did earlier, therelated keywords and the keywords from the Google keyword ideatool.
Next step is to analyze each firstpage for each of the keywords to see if its profitable and easyto rank for.
How?
The first thing that we want to do isrun these keywords in Kindle to find out
How their first page lookslike.

Page results
The first thing that we want to do istake a look at the total number of books that currently show up inAmazons search for the keyword that you areanalyzing.
This is fantastic information fortrying to gauge competition and saturation.
For example, if you were to searchfor the term love you would find that there are thousands andthousands of books that Kindle currently considers on the subjectof love.
Ideally we have to find a keywordwith at least 40 results and no more than 500results.

Keyword in title
Next we want to take a look at howmany of the books on the first page of our search result have thekeyword in the title.
As you may already know, if thekeyword exists in the title it has more weight with in Kindlesalgorithm and will therefore rank more highly for any given searchresult. Keep an eye out for titles with keywords inthem.
Less books with the keyword in title, more easy for us to rank, because just by putting the keyword inthe title in our book we have the upper hand in ranking on thefirst page.

Keyword indescription
For this next part, we have to clickthrough each individual book and read theirdescriptions.
This can be incrediblytime-consuming. What you are looking for is the keyword densitieswithin the descriptions of the books.
And again, less books with thekeyword in the description, easier for us to rank in thispage
Best rank
Now we want to analyze eachindividual books ranking within Amazon.
This may seem a little bit backwards, but the lower the ranking the better the book is selling. Forexample, the rank #1 book in Amazon currently sells thousands ofcopies per day. But the #1,000,000 rank books in Amazon probablydoesnt even sell one book a day.
Again, you need to click through eachindividual book and find out what their rankingsare.
What you are looking for are keywordsthat have one or more books with high rankings.
This means that those books aregetting organic traffic and making a lot of sales from the keywordthat you are looking to rank for. Is a sign, that this first pageis profitable.

Low rank
This is important to find in thepage.
If there are books doing a poor job,it means that we can easy take over theirplace.

Reviews
Finding many reviews on the firstpage means that this keyword might be more difficult to rankfor.
It means that many of the bookauthors have marketing skills, are actively trying to sell theirbook and probably invested a lot of time and effort to get theirbooks to rank.
If you can find a keyword that hasfirst page rankings with a bunch of books that dont have manyreviews, youre looking at untapped territory and a potential goldmine.

Price
Its good to analyze rankings for thevariety of prices that you might find within the firstpage.
If you see that the majority of bookson the first page are free, this is a bad sign. It is verydifficult in Kindle organic rankings to sell books when there areso many free offerings available.

Publish day
Just like in search engineoptimization, if you see a first page full of books that arebrand-new you know that you will be able to compete withthem.
If you see a first page full of booksthat are older ( the longer it has been published ), you knowyoure can have a hard time ranking and beating them forrankings.

File size
This is important marketingdata.
The reason is, if you see that peopleare selling 300 page books for $0.99 and you want to sell your 100page book for $2.99 you know that you are going to have a hard timeselling that book.

Analysis
In synthesis, will analyze, to find agreat keywords First Page:
Results inkindle for each keyword: More than 40, less than 700books
Then, The first Page for each ofthe keywords To See
How many bookshave the keyword in title: Less than 12 book
How many haveit in the description: Less than 12 books
Will checkwhich is the best rank: Less than #20.000
Which ones arethe low ranks: 3 book with more than #100.000
How many bookshave reviews: Less than 14
Which priceshave the books in the page: Less than 3 books at$0
The publishingdays of the 16 books: 2 books from the last 3month
