The Fijian alphabet always gives the most trouble, efficient though it is. Q and g are ng as in finger, b is mb as in number, c is th as in that, d is nd as in end.
Island names endeavour to follow local usage, though with recognition of the fact that Kiribati and Vanuatu were, for far longer, the Gilbert Islands and the New Hebrides, respectively. Palau may appear as Belau, Truk rarely does so as the very modern Chuuk.
Hawaii carries the glottal stop when Hawaii Island is in question; without the glottal, the reference is to the Hawaiian group itself.
