About the Author

Jaap Wesselius is an architect at Amsio one of the larger managed Service - photo 22

Jaap Wesselius is an architect at Amsio, one of the larger managed Service Providers in The Netherlands. At Amsio he is responsible for the entire Microsoft suite when it comes to hosting, which means Jaap is working with hosted Exchange, Lync, and SharePoint. Other than the Unified Communications solution, Jaap is also involved with private cloud solutionsin particular, Windows Azure Services and VMWare, to a lesser extent.

Before working at Amsio, Jaap had been working (and traveling) as an independent consultant, also primarily in the Microsoft Unified Communications area. He learned Unified Communications, especially Microsoft Exchange Server, in his years at Microsoft. He worked at Microsoft from 1997 to 2006, both in support as a Technical Account Manager and in MCS as an Infrastructure Consultant.

Besides work, Jaap spends a lot of time in the Exchange community, like the Dutch UC User Group and the Dutch Network User Group NGN. He is a frequent blogger on his own site www.jaapwesselius.com , but you can also find an extensive selection of his articles on Simple-Talk ( www.simple-talk.com ). As if thats not enough, Jaap is a regular speaker at major events like Microsoft TechEd, the Microsoft Exchange Conference, the Quest Experts Conference, and the Connections conferences. For his work in the community, Jaap was giventhe Exchange Server MVP award in 2007, a prize he has held ever since.

When time permits (it never permits enough, so spare time has to be created), Jaap savors life with his wife and three sons and also enjoys doing some serious hiking and cyclingthe best way, he feels, for one to free ones mind. An ongoing dream is to cycle across Europe, but most likely this will remain a dream as long as he spends most of his time working, writing, and giving speeches.
