Susan Reigler is an award-winning former restaurant critic, beverage columnist, and travel writer for the Louisville Courier-Journal. Her articles about bourbon have been published in Malt Advocate and Wine Enthusiast. She is the author of Kentucky: A Compass American Guide, Adventures in Dining: Kentucky Bourbon Country, and The Complete Guide to Kentucky State Parks and is coauthor, with Joy Perrine, of The Kentucky Bourbon Cocktail Book. She frequently judges bourbon cocktail competitions and hosts bourbon tastings for charitable events. Reigler has degrees in zoology from the University of Oxford and in music from Indiana University. She lives and writes in Louisville and is a research associate in biology at Indiana University Southeast.
Pam Spaulding was a member of the Louisville Courier-Journal photography staff from 1972 to 2012. Her work has been published in many calendars and books, including The Complete Guide to Kentucky State Parks and The Kentucky Bourbon Cocktail Book. Her photographs have also appeared in such magazines as Horticulture, National Geographic, and Traveler. Her photographic chronicle An American Family: Three Decades with the McGarveys was published by National Geographic in 2009. Spaulding is a graduate of the Ohio State University and was a Nieman Fellow at Harvard University.
