This book is dedicated to Roger Callahan, without whose brilliance many thousands of people across the world would still be experiencing unnecessary suffering. On behalf of all those who have been set free and all those who will be as a result of your amazing discoveries thank you.
Also to Richard Bandler and John Grinder, who revolutionized psychological therapies with their insatiable curiosity and determination to challenge existing thinking.
All three of these incredible people were brave enough to challenge the 'establishment' and had an unswerving belief that change is possible and it doesn't have to be painful. Luckily for all of us, they were right.
Foreword
In Tapping for Life , Janet Thomson has done a masterful job of combining her real-life experiences, years of education in exercise and nutrition, and her skill in the application of a powerful healing modality, along with her knowledge of NLP, into a simple straightforward manual for, as she so eloquently states, self-empowerment.
In Tapping for Life , the reader learns how TFT was discovered and has developed over the last 30 years. Janet clearly explains the difference between TFT and the many tapping therapies that have evolved from this highly effective modality. She not only captures the essence of why they all work to varying degrees but why TFT is so much more effective.
Janet is creative and unique in her ability to explain the basis of how TFT and our negative emotions operate. Her explanation of the meridians as 'emotional information highways' paints a clear picture helping the reader to understand a complicated theory. She also clearly explains the three levels of TFT protocols algorithm, diagnostic and Voice Technology (VT) and their comparative successes.
Her focus on some of the most important concepts and procedures, such as psychological reversal and the use of the voltmeter, provide the reader with immediate and objective measurable tools for healing. The cases give clear examples, such as pain, trauma, guilt, weight loss, etc, that are easy for everyone to relate to.
Janet is an approved TFT algorithm level trainer and combines her excellent teaching skills, excitement and knowledge in her trainings. She has done an excellent job of creating positive media attention and we are proud to have her as a representative for TFT in the UK.

Synchronicity is a beautiful thing. I was at my PC one day, working on a book proposal, and had just called Hay House Publishers to ask to whom I needed to send it. I was told that they were not accepting any more proposals at the present time. I was disappointed, as Hay House was my first choice because I am huge fan of Louise Hay and of the Hay House catalogue and the kind of titles they represent. As I hung up, a friend of mine called Nicole Barber Lane rang to tell me that she and her husband Paul were listening to Chris Evans' Radio 2 show and he was talking about how to stop cravings, and as I had taught them both how to eliminate cravings with Thought Field Therapy, they said I should ring up the show. Unable to get through, I sent a text, if only because I knew Nicole would check on me to make sure I had! The next day I had a call from the producer, and that evening I was on the show talking about and demonstrating for listeners the awesome power of TFT. Chris Evans was charming and very open to this great technique, which he could actually see working, and as a result very many listeners learned about TFT and began to benefit from it personally. Also listening was a senior member of staff at Hay House, who thought it would make a great basis for a book. One lunchtime meeting later and here is the result. This book was meant to be written, possibly just so that you could read it and benefit from it.
Now that's synchronicity.
Introduction
After working with individual clients and groups for over 25 years as a personal trainer, I got pretty good at helping people change their bodies. I'd had years of academic study and attained a Master's Degree in Exercise and Nutrition Science, combined with real life practical experience as both a consultant for a top national slimming group and running my own small chain of fitness clubs, along with an impressive track record as a presenter, author and 'trainer of trainers'. In spite of all of this, I was dissatisfied. I felt I could do better. Why? Because in front of me were all these people who were transformed physically, yet they still carried all the negative emotions and feelings they had had when they were big. All of the sadness, trauma or anxiety that caused them to overeat in the first place was still there. I began to search for effective ways to help these people, and soon learned that overeating was usually a symptom of something much deeper that had not been resolved.
Over the years I heard so many heartbreaking stories of years of depression, abuse, anxiety and immense sadness, I knew I had to find some way to fix the head before I fixed the body.
After spending almost two years training as a Life Coach, I learned some techniques that were helpful, but not quick enough for my impatient mind. Then I heard about Neuro- Linguistic Programming (NLP), a system for understanding how your brain works and how to bring about fast, effective, permanent change. I felt that at last I was on the right track. I enrolled on an NLP Practitioners course and awaited it with excitement and optimism.
