| JOHN COLMER was educated at Oxford and has taught at the Universities of Khartoum, Birmingham and Adelaide, where he is the Jury Professor of English. He has published widely on the Romantic poets, and is the author of Coleridge: Critic of Society (1959), Approaches to the Novel (1967), E. M. Forster: The Personal Voice (1975) and Coleridge to "Catch-22": Images of Society (1978), which contains a discussion of Lawrence's social thought. He has also edited Church and State (1976) for the Collected Coleridge, and three anthologies of poetry: New Choice, Mainly Modern and Pattern and Voice. |
