I am grateful for a full and gratifying professional life focused on pediatric critical care and anesthesiology. The dovetail of this clinical focus has been in research in the area of neuropathophysiology. I am indebted to a host of trainees, collaborators, mentors, students, and teachers. I am also indebted to non-physicians including nurses, nurse practitioners, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, and so many others, without whom the entire enterprise would collapse, and of course to my family; especially Michele, Sam, and Jon, without whom life would not be nearly as much fun and certainly not as rewarding.
