ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Niall Mac Coitir grew up in a bilingual environment in Dublin with a love of Irish history, culture and nature instilled into him. An active member of the Irish Wildlife Trust, he works for Fingal County Council. His other books are Irish Trees Myths, Legends and Folklore (2003), Irish Wild Plants Myths, Legends & Folklore (2006), and Irelands Birds Myths, Legends & Folklore (2015).

ABOUT THE ILLUSTRATOR

Gordon DArcy has been drawing and painting wildlife since childhood. He has written and illustrated a number of books on Irish birds and animals and has also provided illustrations for numerous periodicals and publications such as the Book of the Burren (Tr Eolas, 1991) and the Book of Aran (Tr Eolas, 1994). He has exhibited widely in Ireland and Britain and recently in Rhode Island in the US. He lives and works in south Galway, on the edge of the Burren.
