About the Author
Claudine Wells is a 63 years old soul who lives as a Pilates and Yoga instructor for seniors and herbal healer 'nana.'
She has been a senior Yoga teacher for ten years in Bali, where she lives with her husband Mike and Cassandra, her cat that everyone calls Cassie, and her beloved turtle Lul.
Claudine has two kids and one grandchild, who hopefully will soon discover the magic world of Yoga, balance, and spiritual awakening.
She loves writing, gardening, healing with herbs, Yoga retreats, taking and giving lessons, performing Moons rituals, and going for long walks in Nature.
With an Italian heritage descending from her grandmother, Claudine comes from Minnesota, where she celebrated the snow as a source of inspiration, while she now prefers Indonesian vibes that resonate more with her true spirit.
Before starting reading, Claudine thought of giving you a gift to amplify the experience of the book: a training journal to follow your workouts with awareness and fun!

Acknowledgments
As I reread the draft of this book, my list of people to thank just got longer and longer :)
First, I would like to thank my husband, Mike, for always being my rock, my portal. Over the years, he gave me a loving and protective environment that allowed me to express myself in all respects, even when I informed him of my intention to move to Bali while shoveling 1 meter of snow at our home in Minnesota!
Then, of course, I thank Cassandra, my wonderful and impatient cat. For the occasion of the writing of this book, she has been waiting for her well-deserved cuddles without complaining, scratching the sofa, or bothering my sweet turtle Lul.
I clearly thank my children, grandchildren, and entire family for having accompanied me over the years with their inner wisdom: each of them has contributed to making me the person - and the Yoga teacher - that I am now.
Thanks to my students from Bali Yoga classes and someone online too! I am happy that the audience of aspiring Yogis is also expanding to the 'less senior' students!
Finally, I thank all those who helped me realize this collection of books: it was a difficult job, but someone had to do it! Thanks to my beloved Wise Guys Crew for the continued research, comfort, and support! And also for inspiring the illustrations in this book, posing for the illustrator and me without complaining! As a giveaway, I took a few years from some of them :)
And last but not least, I thank you: arriving in your home and supporting you on your journey towards well-being and love for yourself is priceless for me! My heart is full of gratitude!
Namast, Claudine
Introduction
I have been thinking a lot about it: how to start this book collection? I walked the length and breadth of the streets of Pecatu (which in my grandmother's native language sounds like 'sin,' almost as if I wanted to remember my Italian genealogy every day), looking for inspiration.
So much so that my partner literally forced me to sit in the chair and start. So, here I am!
I thought about it a lot, as I said, because I feel honored to be able to accompany you from this moment on, on your journey of discovery of yourself, of your body, of your mind. And also of your spirit.
Yes, why undertake a discipline such as Yoga (even if it is in the version with the chair, do not think even for a moment that it is a sort of 'little sister,' because it is not, and we will see it), or work daily to perform a stretching exercise, or even training your balance to avoid hurting yourself, is not just about the body.
If there's one thing I have understood in all my years of working with senior people - and then I became senior with them too! - it is this: any type of training pushes you beyond the knowledge you have of yourself. Or you think you have, said even more precisely.
Your body, on the other hand, is a perfectly imperfect machine. It works like a foolproof system most of the time, but, like any rule-proving exception, it 'jams' every now and then.
As a mental imprint and a society that is always on the run and connected, we are used to thinking of these moments as a 'bug,' a flaw in a perfect system that needs to be 'fixed.' Then we resort to any system of care and repair that guarantees us a 'button' able to reset that state of perfection in a short time, in an economical and effortless way.
Yet, sadly and fortunately, things don't work out that way. And definitely, our bodies don't work that way.
So I started to see that moment of pure 'imperfection' as a 'sign,' not necessarily negative: our body, which communicates through its intuition, is sending us a message at that exact moment.
And it could be a message that tells us that we are not noticing it, that we are not treating it with respect, or that we are going too fast and must stop and recharge. Whatever this message is, we see it in the form of aches, creaking joints, accidents, falls, or illnesses.
And in this perfectly imperfect communication system, then, how can we respond to the demands of our body: by taking care of it! It is undoubtedly more accessible than all the work the body has to do to send us an SOS signal. All we have to do is begin to know it, touch it, move it and understand it. We must, in practice, learn from it. And the only way we can manage to do that is to connect with it through training.
Our society has given us the wrong idea of training: performing hard and extreme leads to success. Conversely, there is a softer version of moving the body, which becomes ideal when we are 50-60-70 years old (and even more!). It is called gentle or low-impact gymnastics.
