Carlos Barquero Goi holds a doctorate in Medieval History from the Universidad Autnoma of Madrid. His research field is the Order of Saint John in Medieval Spain. At present, he holds a post-doctoral grant from the Caja Madrid Foundation. His most recent book is Los caballeros hospitalarios durante la Edad Media en Espaa (Burgos, 2003).
Elena Bellomo graduated at the Universit Cattolica del Sacro Cuore (Milan), where she also received a PhD in medieval history. Subsequently she held a two-year postdoctoral fellowship at the Department of History of the University of Padua. Her research interests concern the military orders in Italy and the Italian participation in the crusades. Her main publications include A servizio di Dio e del Santo Sepolcro. Caffaro e LOriente latino (Padua, 2003) and Cronache genovesi di crociata (secoli XII-XIII), forthcoming.
Barbara Bombi is a Lecturer in Medieval History at the University of Kent, Canterbury. Her publications include a forthcoming book on the Mission and Crusade in Livonia at the beginning of the thirteenth century and a number of articles on the representatives of the Teutonic Knights at the papal curia in the thirteenth and fourteenth centuries.
Karl Borchardt teaches at the History Department of the University of Wrzburg and works as archivist in Rothenburg ob der Tauber, Germany. He has published a number of articles on the Hospitallers in central Europe and is editor of the Bulletin of the Society for the Study of the Crusades and the Latin East.
