A Life by Request reads like a romance novel: neither the deepest valley nor the highest mountain can keep epic lovers Carolyn and Jay apartnot even death. But nothing is fictional about Carolyn Jaymess true story of how the love of her life returns from the afterlife.Jay is a carefree dinner theatre actor. One evening while on the job, he falls fast and hard for one of the patronsCarolyn. The attraction between Jay and Carolyn is magnetic and intoxicating, something beyond their flesh. They are deeply in love, but tragedy strikes when Jay dies suddenly.Twenty-five years later, Carolyn is married to Tom. Hes perfect on paperthe kind of man her mother wanted her to marrybut cold and distant. Trapped in a miserable marriage, one day Carolyn finds herself sitting in a mediums office, rediscovering what she lost and finding that getting it back just might be possible. She discovers he never actually left her, watching over her from the other side as she labors through life.Carolyn and Jay get a second chance at life and love together when Jay takes over Toms body, with Toms permission. As Carolyn learns how souls swap places and witnesses things that cant be explained, her doubt fades, and she firmly believes the man who looks like Tom is indeed her Jayand shes also blown away that she would be blessed with a second chance at love in such a miraculous way.An extraordinary story about the power of love and its ability to transcend any barrier, including the boundary between two worlds. If youre curious about the spirit world and its connection to this world, you may find yourself entirely captivated reading this book.

Tom, I truly hope you are now content, fulfilled and at peace with yourself and the decisions you made. Iwish you nothing but joy.

To my spirit guides, angels and family onthe other side, thank you for guiding, directing and offering helpalong the way. Your support and love has made all the difference:my beautiful and elegant grandmother Johanna, Aunt Gertrude,Jeremiah, Jays spirit guides - Jim and Joe, Uncle Jerr, and Daddy. To the Grand Council members in the Oatmeal Robes, it has been anhonor to work with you.

My guides and angels who have not yetofficially introduced themselves to me, I know you are there, watching and guiding day in and day out. For that I am eternallygrateful.

And to all the people who were with me alongthe journey, no matter how briefly our paths may have intertwined, thank you for touching my life.

Thank you for joining me on thisjourney.

This story happened and is still happeningto me. I was hesitant about writing this book initiallya reluctantauthor, you might say. Although people urged me to tell my story, Iargued with myself that I would be locked up in a rubber room if Iwere to explain that the love of my life, who died twenty yearsago, asked permission to come back to earth and change places withmy husband as a spiritual walk-in. After all, that sounds like thestuff science fiction is made of, doesnt it? I certainly thoughtso.

In the beginning, I didnt believe any ofthis walk-in experience. I found no concrete proof that such athing could take place, no black-and-white science. It was a niceidea, but I found it hard to withhold judgment. As the months andyears passed, I slowly began to trust and understand the undeniabletruth of what was happening. Once I began to open up to mycircumstances, my life changed in a big and wonderful way.

I have now come to understand how importantit is for me to share this journey. Despite my initial disbeliefthat something so incredible was happening to meor could happen toanyone, for that matteras the story unfolded and the clues becameobvious, I began to believe.

This could happen to anyone, anywhere. Andas fate would have it, it happened to me. For those that thinkmiracles and amazing things happen only to other peoplesmarter, richer, prettier, or, I guess, just special peopleIm here asliving proof its not true. Miracles and manifestations happeneverywhere and with anyone. Even me, an average woman from a smallNew England town.

As I share this story with you, I will do mybest to be open and candid, express my true feelings, and sharewhat I have learned about the spirit side and how things work, asfar as I understand. What I have striven to offer you is my true, authentic, and down-to-earth story, which I will tell in aninformal wayas it occurred. I will share with you how the walk-inprogression worked in my situation, how it made a bit of history onthe spirit side, and even some of the things we were fortunateenough to learn.

I offer insight into the thoughts, experiences, emotions, and perspectives from the physical, earthbound side as well as the spirit sidean inside look as to whysome things transpired as they did, if you will, and how it felt atthe time, the viewpoints, the ideas, the joy, and the frustrations.Parts of this book are verbatim from recordings I made whileworking with a myriad of very talented and gifted people. The restis my recollection of how things happened along the wayandsnippets from my personal journal to fill in some of theblanks.

All names, except for Jay, are changed toprotect the identity of individuals and to respect theirprivacy.

My journey is not yet complete and is stillunfolding to this day. This is my interpretation of a story that istrue to me. It is my personal experience, my life story, and mylove story. Call me crazy, but Im sticking to it.

Welcome to my little piece of theuniverse.

First Reading

I have a man here to see you, tall, withdark hair, dark eyes, April began.

Is it my husband? I asked. My husband,Tom, had brown hair, quickly turning gray, and brown eyes.

No, not your husband, but close to you.Hes coming in heart to heart, which means there is a loveconnection between the two of you. Its a very strong feeling,April said.

I had no clue who it could have been, so Ijust kept my mouth shut while she continued.

Carolyn, do you know what a walk-in is?April asked me.

I have no clue, I said to her softly, watching her intently.

This gentleman is here from the spiritside, and he is standing right next to you. He is very, very upsetat how unhappy you are. He knows you are not living the life youagreed to. You are not living the life you were meant to. This isnot how things are supposed to be, April said. He knows youdeserve better than this and has been searching for a way to makeyou happy.

Really? What a beautiful thought, Ireplied skeptically. I hadnt been to see a medium for many yearsand didnt know what to expect. But it certainly wasnt this.

Hes been around you from the spirit side, and he is frustrated by what hes seeing. He said it hurts hisheart, watching what you are going through. He knows you dontdeserve the unhappiness you have in your life. He wants to comeback to you, make your life better. She went on. He wants to bewith you again.

What the hell? I was thinking. I didntknow what or whom she was talking about. My brain couldntunderstand how this could be, yet there was something about it thattouched my heart, and I was open to it.

I cant express all the feelings hesbringing me. I can tell how much he misses you and how much heloves you. Its overwhelming me, how intense his emotions are withthis, April said, looking at me almost in disbelief to get herpoint across. He is telling me that he was the love of your lifeand you were the love of his life.

In an instant I knew who it was; it hit melike a bolt of lightning. It was Jay. I asked April, Could this beJay?
