Introducing Against All Grain
Using her own personal experience, author Danielle Walker wrote her first cookbook, Against All Grain: Delectable Paleo Recipes to Eat Well & Feel Great, to teach others about what she learned concerning the medicinal effects of diet. Walker suffered with an autoimmune disease, Ulcerative Colitis, for years in which she had tried many different methods of treatment using modern medicine. In her early twenties, she decided to take control of her health through the foods she consumed. Walker spent four years in her own kitchen trying to come up with new ways to eat that would treat her ailments. She eventually learned how to cook using grain-free and dairy free foods.
Walker does not have any formal training when it comes to the kitchen, however, she was able to teach herself to cook in a way that her body needed. She says that changing her diet improve her health almost immediately. As she was learning to cook for herself, she says she cataloged all of her successes and failures, which is what led to the creation of her book Against All Grain. Walker says her book is a comprehensive cookbook that was written to help people who were struggling to change the way they eat.
Because of her new way of approaching grain-free recipes, Walker is changing the face of Paleo dieting for everyone. In Against All Grain, Walker takes familiar recipes that she enjoyed before she started eating a Paleo diet and reworks them to fit her new grain- and dairy-free way of life. Many of these recipes were featured on her blog, also called Against All Grain, but there are a few new recipes. Some of the recipes you will find in the book include Cinnamon Rolls, Strawberry Salmon Salad with Poppy Seed Dressing, Smoky Candied Bacon Sweet Potatoes, Cabernet-Braised Short Ribs with Parsnip Puree, and Ginger Peach Sangria, to name a few.
Walkers book is not a typical cookbook with lists and lists of recipes. The photography, which is the authors own work, used throughout the book brings her dishes to life. The book includes a variety of hearty, easy-to-make Paleo dishesfrom breakfast to dinner and everything in between. Youre sure to find something you love. Walkers book is not just for a moms enjoyment; her recipes appeal to every member of the family, including a section that consists of child-friendly recipes, including foods your picky toddler will love. Unlike many Paleo cookbooks that leave you wanting more, Against All Grain will satisfy and fulfill your foodie desires. The book makes switching to a grain-free, gluten-free, dairy-free, and sugar-free diet easier on its readers. Walker wants her readers to know that removing these things from your diet does not mean you have to sacrifice taste.
Readers of Against All Grains can find more recipes and inspiration on Walkers website with the same title as the book. Her blog includes updates on her journey, recipes, and more. Readers can find answers to many of their questions on her FAQ page, in which she answers some of the most commonly asked questions from her readers. There are also video links in which Walker explains many of her recipes. The author is also available on social media sites such as Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, and Google+.
