Simple Envelope Begin with the minor color side facing up. Fold in half, side-to-side. Unfold.
Fold in half, side-to-side, in the other direction.
Fold both sides to meet in the center.
The completed step, with image enlarged. Make a squash fold on the top of each side.
Fold each side behind.
Fold the outside bottom corner of each top flap up to where the major color begins. Repeat on the other side.
Fold the bottom of the top flap up as indicated.

Note that there is no specific landmark for this fold.

Turn the model over. Fold the bottom up to the same point used in step 7, making sure that the bottom edges match.
Fold the bottom folded edge of the top flap up to partially cover the major color. Repeat on the other side.
Rotate the model. The completed Simple Envelope.

Crane Begin with the shaded side facing up. Fold in half in both directions, corner-to-corner. Unfold.
Turn the paper over.

Fold in half in both directions, side-to-side. Unfold. Rotate the paper 45.
Collapse by bringing the sides together and flattening.
The completed step, with enlarged image. Fold the outer edges of the top layer on the right side to meet at the center vertical crease. Unfold. Repeat on the left side.
Turn the model over and repeat step 4.
Make an inside-reverse fold by bringing the outside points inside the top flaps.

Turn the model over.
Repeat step 6.
Lift the top and bottom flaps up.
Fold the lower edge of both top flaps to meet at the vertical center opening.
The completed step. Turn the model over.
Repeat step 10.
Make an inside-reverse fold on the right, by folding the bottom tip of the model inside the body at an angle. You may pre-crease the angle shown for easier folding. Repeat on the other side.
