Introduction
I m getting fired up for another week of just juice. I do this a few times every year. (Yes, it gets easier the more you do it.) Why? I love the way it makes me feel! I invest a week, and I collect dividends for months. The dividends Im talking about are the kind that restore your natural energy and lighten your load. This happens when your body is cleaner and functions more efficiently. Its not a pricey pill; its not a million-dollar secret. Its a 7-day protocol that requires commitment and discipline. I give you the recipes (theyre delicious) and the daily program (its flexible), and you make the commitment.
When I started my quest for healing in the 1970s, Id been struggling with a lifetime of food sensitivities, constipation, asthma, and severe allergies to common things, such as animals, dust, and grass. Even breathing was hard! I discovered juice fasting and did a lot of it, even fasting for as long as one hundred days. I made so many mistakes! But I was determined to get it right and learned a great deal as I refined my process.
The program in this book is modeled after my work with thousands of students. Over the years, Ive taught many classes, including international webinars. I lead groups through the 7-Day Just Juice Diet four to six times per year. And now I can help younot just to avoid the pitfalls but also to get the greatest benefit from juice fasting in the shortest amount of time.
Even though this diet is about cleansing the body, the key to success is getting in the right frame of mind. Once you make the mental commitment, its easier to deal with the challenges of the physical process. Thats why Ill ask you to think about your goals first, and then Ill help you get organized.
This cleanse is not going to cure everything. One week of just juice cant reverse health issues that have developed over the course of a lifetime. However, cleansing naturally reduces inflammation, neutralizes allergies, purifies the bloodstream, purges the intestinal tract, balances the bodys biochemistry, and yes, successfully eliminates unnecessary pounds. And heres the payoff: when you feel better in your body, you approach all your challenges with fresh energy and renewed enthusiasm.
If you take a break from the energy-consuming process of digestion, and from the contaminants in our modern food supply, your body will revert to its natural equilibrium. Youll recapture some of your old self, feeling more energetic and productive, and probably having a better memory and renewed ability to focus.
