Low-Calorie, Full Flavor
ITS CONFESSION TIME. Im not your typical low-calorie, low-fat health nut. My policy has always been simply to eat the foods I love, exercise daily, and keep a positive attitude. When I set out to write this book, my philosophy on food stayed the same. Although the recipes in this book are low-calorie, none of them were designed specifically to be low-calorie (except for Fettucine Slim-Fredo, call a whole foods vegan will help put you on the right track. By whole foods vegan, I dont mean vegans who shop at the popular health food chain by the same name, but vegans who eat a wholesome diet made up of generous servings of nutrient-rich whole grains, fruits, vegetables, legumes, nuts, and seedsnot a diet made up of nutrient-poor junk foods.
Not to worry, there is still room in your life for your favorite sweet treats. This book has a chapter dedicated to Sinful Sweets (), and it is filled with recipes for donuts, ice creams, cakes, and cupcakes. Actually, it is surprising how few calories are in many desserts. The real problem arises when we eat three cupcakes instead of one, or two cups of ice cream instead of a half-cup serving. This wont be a problem for you, though, because this book will teach you how to use proper serving sizes to create satisfying meals with real food and work in your favorite desserts, too, without a single calorie more than you need.
