Learning the piano as an adult can be intimidating. Just like learning anything at an older age, we all have a tendency to panic because we are unsure if we can do it! We are here to tell you today that you can do it and you should try! If you have ever had any interest in playing the piano, but never had the time, now is the time to do it! Think about how relaxing it will be when you can sit down in your home and play your favorite songs. If this sounds appealing to you, we have a few more reasons that playing the piano is a good choice for you.
One of the first reasons that learning the piano as an adult is great is because during childhood, many people just dont pick it up. There are children who took piano lessons for years and still cant recall any of the keys, notes, or lessons they were taught as a child. Then there are other children who remember it all. Some children love it and never forget, but there are other children who think of it more as a chore and just didnt like when they were young. Learning as an adult gives you much more patience and if you are paying for the lessons, you will know just how much it means to you to learn.
Another great reason to learn the piano is that it can help our brains to prevent memory and hearing loss. This is excellent news for anyone that is fearful of losing their memory as they age. As we get older, our brains do too and sometimes, they are not able to process sounds the way that they used to. Playing music has been proven to help these people prevent hearing loss and to boost their memory.
Math is another reason to learn how to play the piano. For those who do not like math, this could be good news! Our math skills get a boost when we play music because we are constantly counting out the notes, the beats, and the rhythm that is being played. For children that learn to play early in life, their math skills have been proven to be better than their classmates.
Adding languages and vocabulary collection is yet another reason to learn how to play the piano. Think about reading music and think about the language that it is in. It is not English! Learning piano as a child can help them with their language development and their spatial-temporal intelligence. This is also called the Mozart effect. What is the Mozart effect? The Mozart effect refers to many things actually. One of them is that listening or playing his music will help a child with different mental tasks. Many studies have shown that it can also increase intelligence in children. It has also been suggested that it can help to improve mental health, education, and overall well-being. In the works of Alfred A. Tomatis, he explains how listening to Mozart helped many of his patients with many of their disorders.
Piano lessons can also help you to practice your time management skills and organizational skills. These are key for any job that you will hold and in life in general. Any hobby takes some time to learn and you have to learn how to add it into your life. If you already have a daily routine, which most adults do, there needs to be some changing of it in order to practice the piano and to fit in lessons. Making time for lessons and practicing takes you being able to sit down and change your schedule around. This can be tough for those who work 40 hours a week or have children or work multiple jobs. We get it and we know how hard it can be. It is up to you though if you want the piano to be your new hobby.
How is your patience and concentration? Are you pretty disciplined? We hope so! Learning the piano is a big deal and your patience must be good to do it. If you get super frustrated when you are trying to learn new things and just do not have time to give them a chance, playing the piano may not be for you. Think about the piano solos that you hear. Do you think it took the player years to learn or minutes? The answer is more than likely, years. Learning the piano takes a lot of dedication, skill, patience, and focus. If you are unable to focus and get distracted very easily, it may be extremely tough for you to learn how to play. This is something to think about when you decide you do want to learn. Although, there has been some research shown that people who started learning the piano had a massive increase in their patience level. This could be great news for you!
Learning the piano needs a lot of things and hand-eye coordination is one of them. Playing the piano can help you in many ways physically. Research shows that playing the piano can work out your hands, wrists, and arms. It teaches you to maintain good posture and helps you to improve your fine motor skills. This is one reason that many parents will put their kid in piano lessons. This can strengthen your overall coordination though.
Are you looking for a way to boost your self-esteem? Learning to play the piano is one way to do it! When you begin your piano lessons, you will start to feel better about being successful at something. The more you practice and pay attention, the sooner you will be able to master playing the piano. This can impact a persons life in so many ways and one of those is by improving your self-esteem. Any time that we master any type of skill in our lives, it makes us feel better about ourselves. Imagine how that will make you feel when you finally master the piano!
