THE
EVERYTHING
VEGAN
PREGNANCY
BOOK
Dear Reader,
When I had my two daughters, there were no books on vegan pregnancy. Even though I knew that I was eating well, I wished there was something I could turn to for advice. Perhaps because of those experiences, life-cycle vegan/vegetarian nutrition has been the area Ive specialized in. Ive gotten late-night phone calls from pregnant vegans and have been approached by other dietitians with questions about vegan pregnancy. As a long-term vegan, Im happy to support others who are interested in this path. I hope that youll learn from this book and turn to it when you have questions.
Your pregnancy is yours to shape. If youre a first-time mom, youll be getting lots of experience with decision making when there isnt a clear right or wrong answer. Thats good practice for raising children. Gather information, talk to people you trust, and then make the best decisions you can.
This time goes so quickly. Keep a journal, take pictures, try to live in the moment and know that youre making a difference, both by having a child and by being vegan.
Best wishes to you and your family,
