Getting Harder

1. Two additional books titled The Wimpy Kid do-It-Yourself Book and The Wimpy Kid Movie Diary were made aside from the original seven books of the series.
2. Having been originally written for adults, the book was intended to be nostalgic but an editor suggested to aim it towards children. "I was planning one big fat book, something that reminded adults of what it was like to be a kid," claimed Kinney.
3. I feel really blessed to have had a really ordinary childhood," said Kinney when he talked about how his stories are very ordinary and were inspired from his ordinary life.
4. Jeff Kinney's older brother also rehearsed in the basement just like Greg's older brother Rodrick in the story.
5. When Jeff realized that his drawing style wasn't professional enough, he changed strategy and focused on simplifying his work by drawing as if he were a kid. This was after three years of trying to sell his work without much success.
6. It was nine years before Jeff was able to publish his book, he started working on the ideas of Wimpy Kid in 1998.
