About the Author
Kathryn Mewes was born in 1973 in London and lived there for the first seven years of her life. She then moved to Wiltshire and in 1984 a final family move took her to Hampshire, where she completed her education.
In 1992 Kathryn attended Norland College in Hungerford and in 1994 she graduated with a Distinction and The Gifford Hall Award for Excellence. She then began her career as a Norland nanny, staying with families for a period of time and learning and growing alongside the parents. It didnt take long before her fascination with the dynamics of family life became an on-going study.
After nine years as a nanny, Kathryn went to Australia, where she lived for three years and spent time with many families helping to resolve concerns they had about their childrens behaviour. It wasnt long before she realised that she only needed to be in a home for three days in order to bring about long-lasting change.
Kathryn returned to London in 2007 and launched her business in the UK. She is now based in Southwest London but travels the country every week working with different families on their own particular family challenges. She goes by the name of Bespoke Nanny, and will arrive with her little suitcase, live in for 72 hours and then continue to guide that family for the next month by telephone.
Although she visits one and sometimes two families a week, by writing The 3 Day Nanny, she hopes to share with parents the techniques she uses when visiting homes for a personal consultation.
Kathryn continues to help families with challenges, and can be seen cycling the streets of London on her vintage bicycle complete with basket and shiny bell.
With a new baby and a terrible two-year-old, life was reasonably stressful. Our nights were being broken by baby feeding and by a toddler who had never really established a night-time routine and demanded frequent comforting. Most nights felt as though the two were tag teaming and we were a long way away from a full nights sleep.
When Kathryn arrived at our home she immediately fitted in. Within a very short space of time she had befriended our toddler and worked out the ways of our household. It was a welcome break to have Kathryn take both girls off to the local playground during the afternoon when I got some time to myself, and also during the evenings when my husband and I got to have a meal out together and some adult time.
By the time Kathryn left she had established a structured day-and night-time routine for both of our girls. They were taking their daytime naps at the same time and for a lengthy period and sleeping through the night.
I can genuinely say that now our girls are 7 till 7 sleepers. The best money we ever spent!

What a difference three days and one woman can make! We contacted Kathryn to help us with our twins, George and Stella, who were five months old at the time. We had got ourselves into a really difficult place where the twins would only fall asleep if they were breastfed or walked. In addition, they were snackers, who would drink little amounts up to 15 times a day, each. I was near breaking point walking round and round and round parks by day, and imprisoned on the couch at night. Also we were up most nights, through the night. Kathryn stayed with us 72 hours (three days and three nights). During that time she turned our lives around! She gave us and our babes a routine. She taught them to self settle, so we now put them into their cots for their day naps and night sleep and they get themselves to sleep. This was previously impossible a dream. In addition she regulated their feeds and sleeps, so they no longer snack and rarely become overtired. One of the best things for me was that Kathryn didnt leave George and Stella to cry it out. There is, of course, some crying, but it wasnt distressing as she obviously has a very good understanding of children. A month on, and everything is different. We have our lives back and our babies are smiling more than ever! I am spending more quality time with the babies during the day and even have a night life! We put the babies down at 7pm and they dont wake until 67am.

Kathryn made ground-breaking progress with my son, aged 7 years, in terms of getting him eating, getting involved with cooking and communicating how he feels. She taught both him and me so much. I realised we were in a rut when I contacted Kathryn but only now do I realise quite how far we had sunk. An immense weight has been lifted off my shoulders and instead of dreading the weekly food shop, I now look forward to it due to Kathryns ideas and guidance.
Kathryn walked into our lives seamlessly. She is sensitive, supportive, encouraging, kind, professional and great fun. My only wish is that I had found her sooner!

We all loved having Kathryn in our home. She sat with Lucien and they created a weekend menu together and cooked all of the weekend food. She believes in children making their own choices rather than feeling food is forced upon them.
After eating the crunchy chicken Kathryn asked What did your taste buds tell you, Lucien?
That was quite nice, he replied!
Our three days with Kathryn helped iron out Luciens issues with mealtimes.

One day with Kathryn completely transformed my relationship with my son I feel so much more confident and relaxed as a mother now, which has helped my little boy learn his boundaries and also react in a calmer manner. I had read numerous books on babies and toddlers but always came up with excuses why none of their findings would work for my 15-month-old son. But having Kathryn come into our home and tailor her advice to the specific quirks of our family and the set-up of our house was incredible. She knows children so well that she instantly found easy fixes for most of our problems and broke down the big issues into manageable steps so that nothing felt too difficult or overwhelming. She also helped me realise how much my little boy already understands and gave me a new respect for his abilities. We had a wonderful day with her and are truly benefiting from all of her advice. I would highly recommend her services to every family!

This woman is incredible! We tried everything to get our toddler to sleep in her own bed but to no avail. Kathryn Mewes came into our home and worked her magic. As working parents we became exhausted by our toddler waking in the night. This led to us all bed hopping and eventually all ending up in our bed. Needless to say this made us feel like total failures as parents. Kathryn cleverly offered us practical and easy-to-follow instructions and our daughters behaviour changed rapidly. We now have our bed back to ourselves and we tuck her in to her own bed every night! Never did I believe that anyone could fix our daughters sleep problem, as many sleep experts had tried before. But somehow Kathryns approach has transformed our daughter and enriched our confidence in being parents again. We cannot thank her enough for introducing her easy-to-follow programme specifically tailored to our family.
