It is distinct from other books on Keto Diet due to Vogel's modified approach to make the diet work for different kinds of people.
Vogel's book tells readers that though eating fat may sound troubling, she assures us that fat has been proven by science to be nourishing and healing. Apart from facilitating weight loss and maintaining ideal weight, fat intake has helped people recover from unhealthy food cravings, physiological and mental imbalances, infertility, among others. Vogel introduces her version of the Keto Diet, calling it the Fat Fueled Approach. Leanne Vogel is the bestselling author of four books on health and nutrition. Her website Healthful Pursuit provides advice and resources for people who follow the keto diet. Her Youtube channel is a high-ranking resource for ketogenic nutrition. She is a graduate of the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition. She started following the Keto Diet in 2014 which she says, transformed her life. This transformation included her having lost 20 pounds resulting from a hormonal imbalance, healing from ADHD, recovering from eight years of early-onset menopause, regaining balanced moods, healing from brain fog, low energy, problematic skin, hair, and nails; food cravings, and food obsession. Her self-confidence improved. Vogel admits that she had bulimia starting when she was 13 years old. This transformed into orthorexia which made her obsessed with eating the right foods. This resulted to panic attacks if she could not prepare her own food. Her periods stopped as a result of her diet imbalance. A naturopath suggested that she change her diet to a low-carb one, a suggestion that she initially rejected. Her nutrition professors warned her about low-carb diets being unwise and nonsensical. She also knew low-carb diets as being reliant on sugars, mayonnaise, and sodas, all of which she found unhealthy. She came across keto diet on instagram, and being desperate for solutions, she did her research on it. She read the book Keto Clarity written by Jimmy Moore and her journey towards health started from there.
