About the Author
Liz Frazier is a certified financial planner specializing in financial planning for families and working professionals. She decided to go into financial planning after the birth of her first child because, like so many other new parents, she realized the overwhelming need to make sure her family was financially prepared and protected. Her goal is to alleviate the anxiety that surrounds finances and provide simple and painless advice for all of lifes stages and changes.
Her passion for teaching children finance began soon after she started her practice. She realized how intimidated most people were about financefor good reason! They had never been exposed to it, so of course they werent comfortable with it. She realized that if everyone was taught the basics as a child, it would take the mystery and fear out of finance. Starting out life with a base understanding would lead to financially healthy behavior, smart decisions, and financial confidence as an adult.
In addition to her CFP, Frazier holds an MBA from Wake Forest University and is a member of the Financial Planning Association and the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors. She joined her familys firm, Frazier Financial Consultants (FFC), in 2014. FFC has been providing money management and financial planning since 1986.
She is also a regular finance contributor on Forbes.com, focusing on everyday personal finance that anyone can understand and use; her articles provide real-world simple, accessible, and entertaining financial advice.
Frazier lives in Westchester, New York, with her husband and children. Outside of work, she can be found playing dinosaurs with her toddler son, on movie dates with her five-year-old daughter, conducting science experiments with her nine-year-old stepson, or sneaking away for the much needed date night with husband and friends.

Guide
W hen my son and daughter were preteens, my wifes job took her out of town for one evening each week, and it was my responsibility to provide dinner. Sometimes, the kids and I would go to the local K&W Cafeteria. My rule was that they got to choose their own mealsmost anything reasonably healthy, but with the proviso that the total cost had to be under $2. (This was quite a while ago!)
They scanned the wide array of offerings and did the math, somehow always managing to pay for a yummy dessert along with the veggies and entre. They enjoyed the challenge and learned something about how to manage a budget. With this experience in mind, I was entirely receptive to the main message of Liz Fraziers new book.
Specifically, the book is about how to teach your kids financial literacy. That may seem like a daunting task until you read what she has to say. With her guidance, the basic lessons are quite simple and can be taught through games and everyday challenges that they will enjoy. Of course, she goes a lot further than figuring out how to budget for key lime pie at K&W, but thats a start!
Ive known Liz all her life and really cant imagine anyone better qualified to write this bookin a literal sense, she was born to it. She grew up in a close-knit family (and now she herself is a mother of two lively children). Her moms a financial adviser, and her dads a psychiatrist. Along her own way, Liz picked up an MBA, worked in business, and after a rigorous certification program, joined her mom and brother as a personal financial adviser. She also comes naturally by her sense of humor, as anyone who has enjoyed hanging out with her dad would agree.
